Big Al has stopped chasing the does around, and he has returned to his quiet, lovable self. Once again "Al want a cookie" brings him hurrying over for a Vanilla wafer, lots of goat slobber on my hand and those pleading eyes "Please my I have another?", read here "I will take all you will give me". Also included a gentle nudge or two on my leg all the way to the pen gate, hoping for one more, which he gets when the gate is locked. He knows not to push or jump up, just gentle pushes to remind me he is still there and there are more cookies in that pocket. Peace has returned to the farm---until next time

Well, I am glad Al can take the time to notice you again but the stories he provided this fall will be greatly missed. I look forward to the next edition next year.

I'm always happy when my bucks return to normal, too. I enjoy giving them hugs but the smell is so treacherous. So, at the end of breeding season, I give my boys a bath first with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and then a mixture of vinegar. It makes them tolerable.

One of the best compliments from one of my daughters: "Moma, you smell good...like dirt."
