Hi Farmgirls,
I could use a couple of prayers, and also explain where I've been.
I am usually on the forum much more often than I have been in the last several months. It's not that I wanted to miss out on all the good things here, it's that I have not had the energy like I did, until now, recently in the last month.
For the last year, since last May, I wasn't feeling my best. Went to the doctor, then sent to several specialists, but never felt better. Then in December, I really started to feel worse. Weird symptoms would come and go. I knew something was wrong. Since going organic and living such a healthy lifestyle the last few years, I knew there had to be more than what the doctors I was seeing were saying. I was bounced around from specialist to specialist. To make a very long story short, I finally got in with a Lyme specialist, a doctor my husband's client recommended. He's a doctor, md, do, but also believes in homeopathic as well. It took eight months to get an appointment. Guess what...yes, I am dealing with a type of Lyme disease, a very nasty form of the tick-borne illness. Doctors don't always test for all of what a tick can give you, so it was missed at first.
I'm a busy mom and farmgirl, but to add this exhausting disease with its laundry-list of symptoms that have come and gone for months left me too tired to really keep up with everything I wanted to do. I also did not want to say anything until I knew what I was dealing with, and being bounced from doctor to doctor was stressful. Many specialists wanted to just treat the symptoms, or treat their window of expertise (which is what they are trained to do) but were not finding the root cause. A few close friends and family know what I have been dealing with, and a few farmgirls here like sweet Nini know. She's been such a rock to me through this. I'm always the "Mother Hen", so it's not easy for me when I am the one not feeling well.
I have just finished treatment, a few weeks ago...a long round of antibiotics. I'm not out of the woods yet. I have to follow up more, but I can tell you that I am feeling back to my old self. The doctor is very happy with what he sees. I've been so productive and feel so much better this summer after seeing this new doctor. I'm my old self. I have to keep checking in with the doctor, as there could be some lasting effects from having gone untreated so long, but so far, I am on the right track and totally feel back to normal. :) Good news.
SO, I haven't forgotten all my farmsisters. I've just wasn't feeling well. I've missed you all! Let's keep fingers crossed that I am going to stay feeling good!
But, I could also use a prayer for my dad. My dear Daddy had his birthday and then ended up in the hospital the very next day! It was a scare, but was a very bad infection treated with antibiotics. He is home now but is still not back to normal. He is in his seventies. I am very worried. He keeps telling me not to come visit, that he wants us to wait until he is back to normal so we can do stuff, but he's frustrated that he isn't bouncing back like a spring chicken would. Good days and bad, but still not well. Would love some prayers sent his way, please.
Farmgirl Hugs, Nicole

Praying. I'm glad you found the root cause of your symptoms. I saw my dr. today and I knew without even being tested that my iron levels were low cause I've been craving chicken livers the past few days. I finally stopped by KFC tonight and got some. Ate a few and now I feel a little better. Don't like feeling tired. I hope your dad gets to feeling good soon. Cindy

Oh, Nicole - I'm SO happy you've finished treatment and are doing so, so well! What a blessing! :) I will continue to pray for you, of course! And I'll be praying for your dear Dad, too. My Dad has always told us not to come, too. Such a hard thing when all you want to do is run to them, I know. It must be so terribly frustrating him to have a good day or two and then one disappointing day that seems like a setback. Sometimes our bodies just need more energy when certain parts are mending, or at certain stages of the healing process. It's okay. One day at a time, that's all. Maybe it would be a good thing to let him know just how much you need to see him, even though he's having difficulty right now and can't do the fun things he'd like. Sometimes it's just fun to sit together and watch a movie, or play a board game, or even reminisce and look at pictures. If he gets tired and needs to rest, you'll know, and I know you will respect that. Maybe he just needs to know that you're prepared for whatever comes. Being together, if even for a little while, might be a great comfort and cheer to both of you. And I suspect, my dear friend, that YOU might just be the healing medicine he needs! :) Whether he lets you come visit or not, just keep being your wonderful daughter self. Loving light always makes the scary darkness fade away! :)
Cindy - You're in my prayers, too, sister. Take care of yourself and please get lots of rest. Even though it's frustrating, just remember your body is using energy to fight this, too. Please take care of yourself and keep us posted - we're here to pray!
Much love to both of you,
Nini

Thank you girls! I. Really doing so much better. I should have asked for prayers around the New Year, when I was at my worst, but I didn't know what I was dealing with. Lyme is scary. It can hide so well and affect your entire body! I've still got some tests to do because mine was so advanced, but I'm feeling more like my old self than in over a year!
As for my dad, he's having good days and bad, but he sounds more like his old self the last few days. I'm hoping he continues on the path to recovery. I worry so about him!

Thinking of you and your father, Nicole. I'm just so very troubled you have to go through this. Relieved to hear that your treatment seems to be working. Keep all of us in the loop on this one so the farmgirl prayers can continue!

Nicole, So glad you were able to find an answer to your symptoms and were treated, hoping you continue to feel well!! I hope your father continues to get better. My dad has pneumonia a few years ago and it took him almost 2 months to feel back to himself.. He was kind of grumpy, understandable. He is not one to ask for help. I will keep you and your father in my thoughts and prayers. Take care Denise Ann |

Oh my goodness, thank you all. Love my farmsisters. Thank you, sweet MaryJane! I will keep everyone posted. I am doing so much better after finding a doctor that would listen, and recognized my symptoms! It was way easier to get my dog treated for Lyme than to get me treated. (I had one doctor walk into the room and dismiss me, saying that I was "now over forty and it's all down hill from there". I never went back)! The bad thing is that once Lyme is present, the longer you have it the worst it is and harder to get rid of. But I am in good hand's now, and so far, I do feel back to my old, energetic self.
My Daddy had a very bad infection, but he sounds stronger every day. :)
I missed being here on the forum regularly!

Dear Nicole,
I am so glad that the doctor's finally figured out what is going on with you. I think sometimes that the frustration of not knowing just compounds and causes you to feel worse physically. I am praying for strength and healing for you and encouragement too.
I am keeping your Dad in prayer too that he gets better soon and has more good days than bad.

I should've posted earlier, but I was so exhausted at the height of it, that I didn't have the energy. My energy level is way up, so I do think I'm on the right track. (My doctor recommended and also used as a basis for my treatment) a book that was a real eye opener. If anyone is interested, it's titled "Why Can't I Get Better: Solving the Mystery of Chronic Lyme Disease" by Dr. Richard Horowitz. I have one test coming up I'm a bit nervous about, but my doctor says he's not too worried.
I received a card and a tea from a fellow farmgirl yesterday. Deb, thank you so very much! Love my farmgirl sisters!
