Hello Girls. I just wanted to toss out a caution to you about posting your email address within the text of any message here. Since anyone can read these posts without signing up to be a member, it sets you up to get on spam and junk and virus bearing email lists. I know we trust one another here within our own circle; however, there are less scrupulous people out there that can prey on the innocent and unknowing.

If you want to email someone, it's easiest to just click on their name and you'll see if they accept email from members. If they do, you can safely send an email to them via MJF forum, and they can then reply directly to you. That protects us from having our email addresses "out there".

I've been on a few of those "lists", and it's not fun to receive bogus virus emails, or to have my own email address used unknowingly to perpetuate those virus emails. I don't wish this on any of you!

Be safe and savy!

This is quite a coincidence Clare in that I had a message today that Norton antivirus detected a virus on an email that I had recently sent. I did not open it for details but this is a first. Did you recently have this happen to you? I do not post my email on the forum after all the wierd stuff happened last fall, but still I wonder about this latest message.

Meadowlark, I suggest that you download a virus update immediately from Norton, and then do a virus scan to make sure there are not any viruses on your own computer. You usually get them in an email attachment from your inbox, IF YOU OPEN IT... that's the key. If you delete it without opening the email, in theory, you should be safe.

The lists that I've gotten on I think, have come from someone sending out a mass forward email, and rather than bcc (blind copying) everyone on the list, they just do a cc (copy) and your email address is "out there" to everyone that got the forward. If any of the receivers of the email have a virus on their computer, most likely those kind that rob address book addresses, they use your address to perpetuate virus emails to others. You never know it's happening unless someone emails you that they received one of those. And of course, you have no knowledge and no control over it. Frustrating....

So, please, everyone, be safe!

HI Clare Thanks for the tip---hopefully I won't have any problems since I just put my email "out there" today. I never have before, but there is always a first time. Connie

Hi Clare, thanks for the word of caution. I tried to delete my e-mail from the message I had but it didnt delete. I tried to post something & reply but it kept telling me I had a problem or invalid username. My husband ran a virus scan, no virus. I dont know whats wrong. Michele
