Hope

Sun shines brighter now
No new snow on the ground
I hear spring bird songs

Bundled in snowsuits
Unable to move their limbs
Children waddle home.

Hear the spring bird's call
The promise of season's change.
Warmth is on the way.

Outside my window
The sight of more falling snow
Makes me sigh with woe

Bright sun, melting snow
There is hope of coming spring
Warmest day in months!

Waiting

Clouds are gathering
More snow predicted to come
We are all waiting.

Heavy rain, then comes sleet,
Gigantic snowflakes follow.
Winter's not done yet!

The world is cloaked in white,
Lit by the glorious sun.
Spring is thus postponed.

It is almost impossibly beautiful today, after the danger and trouble caused for many by our storm yesterday it seems to be a tough trade-off.

We grow icycles
Of the most amazing size
Dripping and gleaming.

The sun is stronger!
It's melting the rooftop snow
Glad to see it go.

I feel beaten down.
My Dear Husband is grumpy.
We want spring to come.

Awww... Marie! I hope you get a little breath of this spring weather we're getting today!

Early in the morn
Birds singing at my window
Harbingers of spring!

Hugs -

Nini

It's forty degrees!
Driving, with car windows down,
Pretending it's spring.

Jack Frost is sleepy
His breath isn’t as cold now
The warm spring lulls him

Nini,
There was something in your last haiku that brought a tear to my eye. There are those major moments in the life of a mother that show us our children anew, no longer the kid but the adult they have come to be. Thank you.

Six deer in a row
Silently move through the woods
Beauty among us.

Aw, thanks, Susan! You know, over the past month, I've been privileged to watch him simply bloom. What a joy! But I do miss my l'il boy sometimes. :)

Three more on the way -
Storms and inches - what the hey?
Snow, please go away!

Nini - I have read that one important part about writing a good haiku is invoking a strong feeling in a small amount of syllables. You did that above when you wrote about your son. I love it.

Thank you, Jeannie! :) I think whenever we write from the heart, it's a beautiful thing!

Yesterday was warm,
Today we’re expecting snow
And now, I have chills.
