And, using some Battenburg lace, super muslin, sew-on Velcro, Liquid Nails construction adhesive for metal and my sewing machine, the rock guard/window cover now has a "girlie-fied" border to make it sweeter and more like a glamper should be . . in my humble opinion.

Thanks Gracie! I'm going to make something for the back window as well, but there is no rock guard/window cover there so I have to work with either the awning railing or another metal thingie that is over the window. Gonna get my hubby to construct something for me and then work with it for the lace, etc.

Thanks for the info on the roof sealer. It looks so amazing and clean and finished. I love the awning. I have been wanting to add awnings to all of my windows but don't have a brace/bracket. One of my friends has added hers by using small pvc pipe as her frame. She constructed the top bars and then made braces to support the sides against her camper at the bottom of the windows, kind of like props. It is a clean and neat look and she can adjust the pitch of the awnings that way. It gets really hot here in the south so every bit of shade helps.

I will try to find photos....I know I took some.....somewhere.....

Hugs and prayers, Daizy

"Reiver's Rest" is getting some cosmetic work done today on the upper, front clearance lights and a little "wrinkle in her forehead".
Yup, I would be the one doing the repair and it's going pretty good! Gotta her ready for painting with "Birdie" is here in a couple weeks!

ok mz cj... I need to figure out a way to fabricate an awning for the back window of my Scotty... the sun is so strong it's fading out the black design on my bedspread...aacckk!
I have lined all my curtains but as I discovered with my other set (pink chennile) even lining doesn't save it from fade from the strong sun shine... I am thinking up a possible solution using a 'track' that I can slide the top of the awning through,,, and then maybe some easy to set up/take down and stow away side brackets... but I luv what you did with your sweet little awning/rock guard cover...

Gracie,
The "Reiver's Rest" has the awning "C" railing all the way across the back over the window and another metal bracket thingie (I think there might have been a rock guard/window cover back there too). I'm designing a simple awning for back there using the "C" railing. Ordered some keder rope to sew to the awning to slide into the railing. Recruited my hubby to help come up with a bracket thingie for the awning. So, when that's done there will be pics of it too.
CJ

Ceejay,

What a beautiful remodel. You are so talented and imaginative. You should go into business. Buy up all the old campers and remodel them and sell them to the rest of us. LOL! I bet you'd have a waiting list! Fabulous Sister!

Hubby and I went shopping again at the local salvage yard yesterday for some supplies for the bracket/frame for the awning I'm making for the back window. I'm SOOOOOO grateful for such a resourceful, creative hubby who can help with the things that require welding, etc. We're a pretty good pair for creating things!!!
So, we're working on it!

Totally cute!!! What a cute idea to complete the look outside to go with the look inside. These old campers really lend themselves to glamping style. When will you be taking it for a camping weekend to show her off ?

Thanks Winnie!
We have a little glamper event scheduled for this weekend here in my yard to which we've invited a few local girlfriends. We'll see who turns up. The "Reiver's Rest" still needs a bit of work on the hitch before going on the road. But we'll open her up and show her off as much as we can! I had her open last Friday and she just looks so cute and inviting with the "Welcome" sign out, new sunflower shaped solar lights, the weathered picket fence hiding the tanks and tongue and the lace awning on the rock guard.
I'm excited to see her after she gets a new paint job . . . which won't be until after this weekend. Robin and I plan to work together to paint her.
Soooooo . . . just keeping on with the projects!

I can hardly wait for the photos... I like the idea of having a rockguard for the back window... I wish I had a rock guard for the front one... we may have to resort to 'creating' one for the front,,, but for now, we need to finish up on the other 2 trailers... lol!

Hi Daizy,
"Reiver's Rest" is aluminum and, after a lot of searching different paints, have decided on Clark & Kensington Exterior that combines paint and primer in one and is high endurance of metal. The color will be the same . . ivory . . just a fresh coat and the stripe will be plum (old color is brown) and we're going to add a girlie accent to, but I'm not telling you what that is just yet. Gotta wait until it's done. We will be brushing except for the "girlie accent" which has to be rolled with little foam roller. Since she is small and there are nice big windows to work around, we won't be spraying or rolling. I'm anxious to see her in her new "paint clothes"! :D

Had a little gathering in my yard this past weekend. Just a few touches to the glamper trailer.

Fashioned a "Welcome" sign from a thrift shop find, baling wire, buttons and wire-edged ribbon

Removed the ugly "standard issue" towel rack and replaced with a basket with a handle for a towel rack and storage area for washcloths and another towel

Potted pansies and sunflower shaped solar lights at the door

Oh so cute! I love all the things you do. Plum sounds so pretty and elegant. Keep posting pics so we can dream of having our own!
Actually, I have seen one at the same spot for over 2 years. She looks lonely and I think she should come to my house! LOL! One day she might live here!

Darlene,
The "Reiver's Rest" had been sitting in the yard at the home of this elderly couple for a couple years as well. They live in the mountains along the highway and we travel that way often. Every time we passed their house I'd say . . ."boy, that's a cute trailer". Well, last November I finally decided to go ask about it. I enlisted the aid of my neighbor girlfriend and we we drove up (about 30 miles) and checked it out. Left a note in their mailbox asking if they'd be interested in selling, included my phone number. They called me that afternoon and said THEY WOULD!!!! She came to live with us later about 5 days later!!!!

Soooooo, I say, go check it out and ask because ya' never know!!!!

Just about finished with the exterior painting project. . . YAY!
Looking rather lovely! When my hubby saw our embellishment he says, "that is a really nice finishing touch"!

Robin slept in the glamper last night and says it was great! My turn after she goes back to Phoenix.
