This past week I read "If You Lived Here I'd Know Your Name", a collection of essays about life in a very small town in Alaska. The author writes obituaries for the local newspaper and also is an NPR contributor. Each of the essays is a glimpse into life in her very small Alaskan town and into the quirky characters that live there.
It was so good that I found myself wishing I lived there -- and I absolutely hate to be cold!!

Some people search for happiness; others create it.

I've read it, too, and it IS a great book! Some tears, but not overwhelming. Very thoughtful book.

I finished it about a week or so ago and also liked it. Very different from what I expected but it certainly gives you a perspective on small town living in Alaska. Passed it on to someone so I can't recycle here...sorry.

with a happy heart

Check your library. That's where I found a copy to read.

I read this earlier in the year and loved it! I emailed the author and now subscribe to an email update from Alaska to get her weekly newspaper articles. The book is always by my bedside.

Hi,I LOVED this book.I have followed Heather Linde's commentarys and she has a section in the Anchorage Daily News every Wednesday. She has the talent to make your heart swell with compassion and tolerance. Not a common occurance in this day and age, unfortunately.
I had the fortune of staying with her and her family at their home and I loved their house. She and her husband designed it.It had reading "cubbies" in the windows.Just my thing.I also was very lucky to find a home with her for our really rowdy retriever. He just needed acreage to run and we didn't have it.
Heather has written about her experiences with him, cracked me up.What a funny lady.Sooo glad you all have been able to enjoy her too!
