I don't do much decorating except for Christmas, but mother nature put on a pretty show here the other day with some corn ready to be harvested and a storm as the sun was going down. I stopped milking the cows to run and grab my camera.

And after the storms this weekend it feels much more like fall. We started the woodstove up again.

Heather, Great photos. The dark sky really sets off the golden grain. Aren't woodstoves the best? The whole house gets warm, floors and all!

That really is great, Connie! Sounds a lot like my fall bucket list, too! (The FUN one, of course!)

Girls - Check out this tiny pumpkin house I just came across at the Tiny House Blog... http://tinyhouseblog.com/tiny-house-concept/tiny-pumpkin-house/ So creative! SO adorable!

And here are ten more on Relaxshacks.com: http://relaxshacks.blogspot.com/2012/10/ten-tiny-pumpkin-houseshuts-happy.html

I think I want to try to make a miniature one myself! Doesn't this sound like fun? Maybe we could all make a few and then do a parade of farmgirl miniature pumpkin houses on MJF! What do you think?

Happy Day!

Believe it or not, I actually made these for my honey a couple of years ago. Yup, just once, they were a pain to make :)

Whoa, these are incredible! Talk about creative! How about that tiny pumpkin house you could live in??? Wouldn't that just be the cat's meow nestled in the woods of the mountains? I have a new expression for this year: October Pumpkin Goodness or OPG!! Hehehe! All things pumpkin to make your life better and brighter!

"Peter Peter pumpkin eater
Had a wife and couldn't keep her
Put her in a pumpkin shell
And there he kept her very well"

That's all I could think about when I saw them, Winnie! LOL! LOVE OPG!!! :)

So pretty Connie,
Here is one from back home in MA. If memory serves, they must be just about at the peak time ...
That is one thing I do miss, is the vibrant colors.

Beautiful photos girls :)

Teri, where in MA did you live? I used to live in the Western part of the state. BTW, your pumpkins (and acorn!) are simply adorable. Great handwork Terri!

Sharon,
We lived in what was called the tri-state area, Worcester county ... our back yard was in part of N.H.

Teri - I grew up in MA, too... All over the place... North Attleboro, Needham, Bass River and Yarmouth on Cape Cod... (RI, too. Moving was a necessity because of my Dad's work.) One of my favorite overnight class trips was to the Worcester Science Museum (Museum of Science?). All the kids especially loved putting the coins in their machines to make injection molded animals as souvenirs! We also went to the armory in Leominster on that trip... Is that far from Worcester? Did you ever visit there? "They" say it's haunted!

Did you girls ever go to Diamond Hill in the Fall? It's near Wrentham... SUCH an energizing, colorful tour of the woods in the fall! That was the first place I ever saw lady slippers... Growing up, our next door neighbor used to hang glide there. Awesome place. And my favorite place to visit every fall was The Big Apple in Wrentham - my grandparents always took us there as kids. Sharon, did your grandparents ever take you there? They always had big barrels of free apples to eat as we shopped. I remember there was always a witch to greet us at the front door of the shop at Halloween, too - so enchanting! And our neighbor's Grandma worked at the little bakery there, too. It was a family favorite on Sunday afternoons - we'd always get candied apples to eat in the car on the ride home. What a sticky mess we would be! Another favorite spot was Phantom Farms in Cumberland, RI... I just loved their bakery and all the canned goodies they had!!! Very old-timey - it has a general store type of feel. My sister would always get their licorice pipes... they would melt all over her, but how she loved them! :) There was a really cool winery and a holly farm nearby, too, if memory serves. Man, I'm getting homesick...

Did you girls ever ride down the Mohawk Trail when the leaves were changing?

I miss Massachusetts...AND Rhode Island... Especially this time of year. Wouldn't it be fun for all of us to take a trip home sometime and meet up and share all our favorite haunts? I betcha we could get Ruthie to come, too! Maybe someday... Maybe someday...

And I second Sharon on your pumpkins, Teri! They are adorable! Everyone who has visited loves them as much as I do! They're just one of those decorations that deserve to be displayed year-round! You are a very talented lady, indeed! Thank you!

Thanks for jogging my Massachusetts memories, girls!

Hugs -

Oh my Nini! Yes to all of it, and boy that is bringing back some memories ... In fact the Mohawk Trail, is where Greenfield Village is/was and the tower just up the trail a bit, climbing to the top and seeing the tri-states! I made those molds everytime we went on a class trip ... and Leominster(we still have family there) was about 50 mins away, with Boston being 75 miles from us ...
You lived in some very beautiful spots in MA.
awwwwww ... the good old days ... :)
