We have a ton figs already this year so I tried a fig/strawberry preserve recipe and it was great! I had it this morning on my toast. The recipe is super easy: 3 cups figs 3cups sugar 2 boxes of strawberry jello
Bring to a boil for 3 minutes and put in hot jars....yummy good!
I learned a fantastic fig dessert in a Tuscan cooking class:
Cut a pretty good sized "x" in the surface of a washed, very ripe fig. Top with a dollop of mascarpone cheese, sprinkle with a little brown sugar and add cinnamon if you'd like, and broil it for three to four minutes until the sugar melts a little and the cheese gets a tiny bit brown.
So simple but so very good, especially with a small glass of wine.
Michelle My figs are not quite ready but the recipe looks both easy and yummy so I am going to try in a week or so from now. Thank you for the recipe. Bet it looks all pretty in cute jars too.
