Could anyone tell me what causes my cucumber plants in my greenhouse, to have kind of powdery grey spots on the leaves? They all have lots of tiny cucumbers coming so far. On another note, we had a touch of frost July 13, can you believe that! My potatoes and beans all got touched a bit:-(

water getting on the leaves and causing mildew, try to keep all parts of the plants dry...

Yes powdery mildew, I have always had luck cutting off the infected leaves then spay milk on the plant, dredging well. Enzymes in the milk prevent mildew from reoccurring.

My cucumbers grew in circles this year and never straightened out. I got a few "normal" looking ones but over mine didn't do very well. What's the secret? I live in southern Mississippi.
It all comes back to the ground!

Shannon - I just want to let you know that I just found out last year that powdery mildew also thrives in the presence of nitrogen, which means your fertilizer could be exacerbating the problem. Please do try the milk spray Kelly suggested, and then perhaps cut back on anything you use that has nitrogen and see if that helps. I did cut back on my organic fertilizer this year, and even despite a LOT of rain, my plants haven't been affected by powdery mildew - yet! I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed. ;) Good luck! I know it can be so frustrating... I'm sorry about your potatoes and beans, too. Maybe you could plant some more beans? You might still get a decent outcome even this late in the season! Hugs - Nini
