My husband gave me a tree swing for my birthday. He hung it on our big old oak tree and I'm loving it. I feel like a kid again! Swinging can be very therapeutic, relaxing and just plain fun.

Happy Birthday to You, Karen! How cool is that! 'Brings back so many wonderful childhood memories. We loved our neighbor's tire swing - we'd pile four or five kids on it at a time and just swiiiiiing to and fro for hours. I can still hear the "Whooooooooaaaaas" and "Weeeeeeeeeees!" LOL! That poor, magnificent tree! We also used to host baby doll picnics under the tree by the swing. Baby doll blankets, iced tea and peanut butter and jelly... And we'd always manage to corral a beloved dog into wearing a bonnet and tuck him in for a lazy afternoon nap in the shade. I had almost forgotten - what sweet memories to recall! Thank you! You know, I just remembered! One time I fell off that tree swing smack dab into the dirt face first and got a mouth full of earth. That was the first time I ever heard that we eat a peck of dirt before we die... Isn't that funny? What a thing to remember!! LOL! Hugs - Nini

Enjoy your swing, Karen - Enjoy!

Karen...what a great b-day gift!!! I can no longer Swing as it makes me nauseated...but
I did have many fun years of swinging. Now I love to "watch" the grand-kids swing. They go
so high that they scare me sometimes...but I probably did that to my parents and grand-parents
too.

Happy swinging my friend!

blessings and smiles,
Peggy

Thanks for sharing your memories, Nini. It sounds like you had a wonderful childhood. As a child, I had one of those old, cheap swing sets that was just okay. But, I had a friend who had six sisters and I always loved spending the night at her house. Her Dad did such special things for those girls. They had one of the most gigantic swing sets I've ever seen in my life and down by the swings there was a stream and woods. It was a cool, dark, almost magical setting. Her Dad had salvaged an old school bus and made it into a sort of bridge across the steam. We spent many happy hours playing in that old bus.

Hey Peggy,

Oh, so sad that you can't swing, but I know you enjoy watching those kiddies. Kids can be dare devils, so I understand your concern. I don't swing too high, as the old limb shakes a bit and I sometimes worry it might fall but hubby assures me that it's sturdy. My next "return to childhood" is getting a bike. It's been ages since I've been on one, except the horrid stationary exercise kind. I ordered one of the beach cruiser types with only three speeds and pedal brakes. I definitely need the exercise, but am hoping it won't be too difficult. Won't be biking out on the road with the pros, just around the farm. My donkeys will think I'm crazy and wonder what the heck I'm up to!
