Have you gone back to Ireland to visit relatives?

Susan, I'm glad you are enjoying the book so far. Jan Karon writes so well and it does not take long to become familiar with Father Tim.

Thanks for the book choice. We haven't started the official discussion but I'd like to say how I enjoy the author's style. There is a peace to the reading, I will definitely want to read other books by Jan Karon. Now, even more, I would like to see Ireland. There is no Irish in my heritage but I would almost like the to be.

Hello everyone! How's the reading coming along? Is 10 chapters a week a good number? I have some great questions for our discussion. (I'm assuming we do that after we finish the book?)
I'm enjoying particularly the journal that Father Tim & Cynthia are reading. I have a suspicion this will become more important than just an interesting read for them. We'll see.

I've made it through 11 chapters, it was hard to stop! This was a week with quiet time but I should be able to do about this many in a week if I plan for it.

I'm up to chapter 11 also. Angie, I think you're right, that journal is going to play an integral part in this story. I swear I just want to sit under a tree and not move when I start reading this book. Karon's books just seem to be alive, breathing and I love how much she invokes Christianity without being "preachy." And the love between Tim and Cynthia has me looking at my beloved with new eyes. Kind of wishing we could read this in the winter as its such a cozy read! Good thing she has so many wonderful books to choose from!

Okay ladies, time to liven this club up!

Sorry I've been lacks but between the pain of surgery and the medication I've pretty much slept the entire month of June away I could read and read but spending time on the computer is more of a challenge.

I can't tell you how much I loved this book! Karon writes with such a peaceful style. No wondering whats around the corner nothing that makes the heart race, just simplicity and yet full of richness that stays with you long after the book has finished. I can read this book and spend the entire day thinking about it.

What touched me the most was the love between Tim and Cynthia. Even in their golden years they have the kind of love and relationship that I want. Their sharing of the events that surround them, the way they are so in tune with each others thoughts and feelings. Makes me envious and makes me want to bring that back into my marriage. The way they look after each others best interest.

I fell in love with the slow pace and the camaraderie among the inhabitants of the lodge. There is just so much I want to say but my thoughts are scattered. I really should have taken notes while I was reading.

I'll be back, just want to find some of those quotes to dwell on!
