TEARS of CHEERS!

Well Farm Girls, my very special, very determined, very patient, very thoughtful secret sister is TINA, aka BlackRabbit. She's been up there in New Hampshire, sewing, gathering, embroidering, crocheting, shopping and BOXING it all up. It just took her a wee bit more time, and was worth the wait.

I'm going to send her a very special note of thanks, but I just have to say, that like many others, my secret sister's generous package arrived on one of my darker days.

My blog is behind, and I plan to update it, but it has been our family's turn to have a string of bad luck lately. So, if you REALLY want to hear the saga, tune into my blog in a few hours.

In the meantime, I'll tell you I laughed a little as I pulled into my driveway yesterday with my boys in the back of the van.

Younger boy says, "Ooooo, a box!"
Older boy says, "Yeah, it's probably not for us. I can't wait til I'm old enough to earn money to buy stuff on the internet and get packages."

So, no, as I saw the cheery labeling, I realized it was from my Secret Sister. Yeah, I'd almost given up hope, but really, with all that's been going on with our life lately, I hadn't had a lot of time to lament about not getting a SS package the past two months. In reality, I had a lot of fun GIVING, so I was still pleased with the MJF activity.

Anyway, so, like usual lately, we were in a hurry. It was about 4:45, and I needed to get myself and Older Boy dressed for the Ball Game. I needed to keep younger boy from changing into some elaborate SuperHero costume, so he could go with us and not raise too many eyebrows. I also needed to load the van with ball gear, feed the animals, and warm up some corn dogs in the microwave to tie us over until after the game.

I stole just a few minutes to open the box. Older son thought it was just amazing how you knew I loved Sock Monkies - AND lunchboxes! He quickly grabbed a container of fancy sprinkles and smiled. I had to say, "No, we'll make some cupcakes this weekend, go get your cleats on." He left and I found the notes... and read them... and I had to really fight back the tears. I've felt so alone lately, and just knowing that someone (besides God) was thinking about me during these troubling times.

Well, that's about as far into the box I got before I was pushing dogs in the basement and kids in the van to get to the ball field by 5:40 to meet DH and the rest of the team for our game.

We had a great game. Those 9 & 10 year olds even made a SWEET double play! We've had a rough season, and this second win has REALLY helped everyone feel pretty good - parents too.

So it was about 9:00 before we all got home. The boys knew they needed to get cleaned up and into their beds. Luckily, there was no homework to do. Finally, as DH was downloading baseball pics and recording stats, I had time to really DIG into my SS box of joy. After several minutes, he said, "Are you STILL opening up your Secret Sister package??" I just smiled.

I don't know how well the picture will come out here. I'll post another copy on my blog later and link to it, so it'll come out bigger. I really loved it all, and so many of the treasures are already in their place (ok, the glads will go in the ground tomorrow, but I know the PERFECT spot!). I think the part that touched me most was the little note of pride about the embroidered rooster being her "best work." It is a marvelous job, and I'm so HONORED that she would share it with me... a complete stranger... something she'd taken so much pride in. THAT'S WHAT A SWAP'S ALL ABOUT, Charlie Brown!

^^^I'm a RidgeRunner, and will always feel best when surrounded by the PA mountains.^^^

Thank you to my Secret sister Tracy! Your box of goodies is always exciting. I have gotten so many special gifts from you. I love all the handmade items. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy, because we all know that they take time, and the simple fact that someone is willing to give up their own time to make something special is such a good feeling. I love the idea that you put Montana in a box. That's right farmgirls she did. I got a travel guide(its been a goal of mine to visit Wyoming and Montana since i was about 17)I cant even express my delight in this. It re-grounds My ambitions. So one day when I get out west You may receive a little visitor. I got a beautiful pen decorated with bead work made by a local Blackfeet artisan.I have started using at work when I waitress. She even managed to give me my plant in the form of fossilized shale, Since I wanted to be an Archeologist, Paleontologist, Geologist when I was younger This was perfect. Actually I crow about my newest specimen to my family. She Made me some dish cloths I'm going to save them for my house. So when I bring my hope chest up here or wherever it is I call home, it's going in. Mjf Chocolate O.O (what girl doesn't like chocolate). Some magnets Which came in the nick of time I was just telling my Bryan that i needed magnets. These ones have a sense of humor to boot. I have curled up late at night with some Chai tea and the book you have enclose I can see why you love it. Im attempting to read it between two jobs. Erin...you are a Fabulous writer...I thoroughly enjoyed your "Thank You" Post and Pictures.
I am going to have to go check out your Blog...so, I can enjoy more of your writing.

Tina...that was an awesome pkg. you put together for your Secret Sister! I also loved reading
about Your Montana in a Box from your Secret Sister. I lived in Libby Montana until the age
of 10...but I have some wonderful memories of it. I lived in the part that was High Mountains,
Tall Trees, and Beautiful endless skies. When I was in my 30's someone told me that most of
Montana was flat and desert scape and I didn't believe them...because I just had never seen that
part of Montana. I think that I am rather glad that I loved my little corner of Montana and
never roamed far from home. I hate the desert with a passion. Maybe that is why I ended up in
North West Washington...I still have my High Mountains, Tall Trees, and The Beaches. I am
triply blessed.

Hugs and More Hugs,

Peggy

Thank you to my Secret Sister, Catherine Griffin (cajungal)! It was so great to see who had been sending all the nice packages to me these past few months. Catherine revealed herself to me with a fun package of scrapbook paper pads (always love new paper), stickers, a journal, notepad, a fun folder to keep my MJF lists in one place :) and some cute duck tape with cherries (I love cherries)!

Thank you so much for everything Catherine!

Hugs, Tammy

Thank you to my Secret Sister Robin, aka Duckmama!
You stuffed that box full of goodies!
I especially like and need the easy threader. I
spend a lot of time trying to push elastic, ribbon and
ties thru a narrow channel! Problem solved. Peppermint is
my favorite tea. Thank you for all the other gadgets, fabric and
the cards and pink tablet. I am a compulsive listmaker.
You sure know how to spoil a farmgirl. All your packages
were great and I love them all!

Thank you so much to my secret sister Joey for the wonderful reveal package. There were so many fabulous treasures within. I am sorry I cannot post pics at this time as I have just recently moved and we still are not completely unpacked and settled in. I have to jump on the internet at work only for the time being. Joey it was so wonderful having you as a secret sister. I appreciated every little bit I received from you. We are all so blessed to have the opportunity to give and receive with each other. Love to all.

Well I received this wonderful reveal package from my Secret Sister Autumn Grasty and it is so awesome and unfortunately my computer won't let me upload the picture I took of everything. disturbing.
Anyway, here is what she sent me by description: I opened this big box that was somewhat bulging and inside it held , a big green tote bag that she had felted, kind of an olive green, really heavy duty bag, a pack of really pretty colorful buttons, a 4 tin pack of tea, Raspberry Earl, Egyptian Mint, Ambrosia Plum, and Italian Chamomile, they stack on each other, neat, then there was, a lime green kitchen towel with lime slices all over it and a strip of green at the bottom, a pink water bottle that is called Vapur The anti bottle and it folds up when not in use and BPA free! There was this cute little flower shaped strainer for like vegis and things in my favorite sunshine yellow color, and also a planter pot in the same yellow with yellow garden gloves and a package of Oriental Poppy seeds to plant, A list pad to take notes on and has a tea cup picture at the top of the package. The next thing I pulled out of the bag was a package of polka dotted reusable sandwich bags they are bright and pretty, it is a 3 pack, some cute animal bag clips one raccoon, owl, and skunk on the clips. Amber said she likes to do felting of which she does beautiful work and she made a cute little brown felted moose head stuffed it is soooo cute! Still I put my hand in the beautiful green tote and out comes a glittery shiney finger nail file pack of 8 and last but definitely not least I pulled out a brown ceramic soap dish and a felted bar of soap that she has wrapped in brown and yellow felted yarn, A lovely gift I have received from my SS Autumn.
Thank you so much
darlene

Malena,
You are so welcome. I really enjoyed getting to know you and your family a little bit better. I am so glad that you enjoyed the things I sent. I tried to include some material that I thought you could use for your dolls. Let's not lose track of each other, OK? Hugs, Joey

I am so excited to announce that my wonderful secret sister is from Canada!!! WOW! We might be the most long distance pair....I'm wwwwaaaaay down south in Texas and she's wwwwaaaayyyy up there. So cool.

I was notified in the beginning to try to not look at the return address on the packages because she had to put her address and not the secret sister MJF address. So, for the past several months, my family has intercepted all mail and packages. They would black out the return address before letting me have the packages. Sometimes the package would get left on my hubby's desk for a bit before he'd remember to give it to me.

Look at my reveal package....!!

THANK YOU, Joyce!!!
