Our city has festivities all week into next weekend, so we have had a lot of people in town. The restaurants and motels have been full, so it should help the economy here for awhile. We were going to walk down to the park to listen to the bands down there today, but it was so humid, I could not be outdoors at all, inside with the fan blowing. We had a little bit of rain this morning, not even enough to get the ground wet, but it made the humidity climb. I hope it is better tomorrow, I need to do some weeding in the garden.
Holly, glad the pigs stayed where they belonged for you today. Hope they stay there now. Good luck to the baseball team. Hope they win lots of games. Nice that the boys like the pond. Keeps them busy and cool. I bet they do sleep well at night. Sounds like they are adjusting quite well and enjoying it there. I bet they feel more secure now than they ever had in their lives.
Have a great evening,

Janet

Good evening everyone,

We took G and C to soccer camp today. It is a half day camp. G had a great time. I think C was overwhelmed by having to interact with a number of children at once. In the beginning he had a crying melt down in the fetal position in the field but he got up and finished the morning and was glad he went. G is good at team sports. C might be after a while but after this week is over we will not torture him with group activities for a while again. We are looking at half day baseball camp for G now that we know he can participate successfully.

K had her braces on her teeth adjusted today. She adores the orthodontist. They laugh a lot during the appointment and he strokes her ego so she is feeling great emotionally when she leaves his office even if her mouth is in pain.

It did rain most of the morning here. Soccer camp continued during the rain. The car thermometer read 92 degrees. It cleared off for the afternoon but the humidity did not allow my laundry to dry on the line. So, it is in the dryer. The forecast is for more rain through the week otherwise I would have left it on the line.

We had baked chicken and salad for supper. The lettuce and spinach were from the garden. I do like fresh lettuce.

It is interesting to me hearing about different towns across the country birthday celebrations. Worcester had it's 250th a few years ago. Jan's town is 150 and as we go further west the years are less. The progress of migration is interesting.

Sweet dreams,

Holly

Holly, Sounds like soccer camp was very worthwhile for the boys. And it is so nice that K has an adult outside the familiy who is finding her interesting and communicating with her in a way that makes her happy. She sounds like someone I would enjoy being around. Funny, but sometimes I feel group activities are torturous, too. Congrats to G for having a superior time and to C for getting through it. Equal accomplishments!

Today is our 28th Anniversary. We spent it gussying up the gardens/pool area. Looks like we will list the house tomorrow. BTW, Larry, the llama, had a two day Walk About on the 3rd and 4th. We were very involved in the search and rescue. It was very hot, and we were already very tired from putting up fencing around the pool (per code) and if I can make it sound the least bit entertaining in a few days, I will share it with you. Right now, I still can't see any humor in it. Not sure I'm ever going to...

Marianne, Happy Anniversary!!!!! Hope your house sells quickly and you can move before the cold weather hits again. It is hard to believe that over half the year is past already!!!! Putting up fencing does not sound like a very fun job. Hope you are done with it now.
We had rain early this morning, then it was gloomy and very humid all day until around 5, then it cleared up, so we went down to the park. They had a band down there that played, and some of the members were in another band 40 years ago, so they had a reunion and got most of the band members together and they played also. It was so wonderful, we just got home!!! There are so many people in town for our 150th year, I am sure it will really help the economy for awhile anyway.
Tomorrow we are going to go get a truck load of scrap wood for our fire pit, so we can have some fires out at night. We did this 2 years ago, but we used most of it at camp. This year we are not going camping, since we have our camper up for sale, and Bob's truck, so we can get rid of those and get a motorhome, hopefully before this winter.
Hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying the summer so far.
Have a great evening,

Janet

Marianne, Happy Anniversary! Sounds like you have been having too much fun with Larry the llama. Is he yours or the neighbor's. Good luck selling your property. With such a large parcel I imagine it will take a while. Are you going to start looking or wait a while.

Holly, poor C. I'm sure there will be more events but I bet you handled it well. His life has changed so much since living with you. My youngest son had a melt down his first day of 4th grade. There was a tug of war between the principle and my son trying to keep me from leaving and keeping my son in school. By the end of the day he had made new friends and didn't want to come home.
I'm sure C will be OK. Maybe seeing G do well will help him too.

I have been sewing quite a bit. I got 3 more outfits done today. Ginny, two are large sizes. I hammered a nail on the side of my mom's beat up garage. It works great for taking pictures. I'm using another seller's example hoping it will work. She also uses a beat up white background.
My mom is going to Utah for 3 weeks on Wednesday. It will be so nice to have the house to myself. I'm hoping for another job interview next week. Wednesday is the last day to apply for the job so I should get a call soon. After all, they did ask me to apply for the job. I'm a little worried about being able to handle the 10 hour days. I'm beat after 5 hours. If most of the work is sitting at a computer, I should do OK. I can last for at least 8 hours. I figure coffee and Aleve will get me through the last two hours.

Larry, the llama, is definitely not ours. But, I can understand the confusion given how much time we spend fussing with him.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes.

Bunny, I think your new backdrop sounds charming.

I need to vent. My mom has bailed on her trip to Utah for 3 weeks. So typical of her. She used the "I have a bad feeling I shouldn't go" excuse. Of course can't fight that. I really don't like my mother. This is very typical of her to cancel at the last minute. At least she bothered to call my sister and tell her. She did this numerous times to me and never even called to say she wasn't coming. I can remember us waiting all day for her and ... nothing. Not even a phone call. Happened so many times it became a joke.
I need to get out of here so bad. I feel stuck beyond stuck. I sure hope I can at least get this job so I can be putting money away.

Janet, she won't change her mind. This is her usual MO. She does this all the time. She will be going to calif in August. Her guy friend sent her $400.00 for new tires so she could visit. I told her it was not an option. She owed him the trip.

Ah, Bunny, that is crummy news. I guess you just need to shift your focus to "can't wait until Mom leaves in Aug." But, I know you were so looking forward to these three weeks. It seems your vacation has been snatched away. I am sorry to hear it.

We listed our home. It will hit the MLS Thursday. Please keep your fingers crossed for us for a quick sale. I don't like living in such a clean house. You don't want to start any projects!

Happy Birthday to Gypsy.Bet she is having fun up north.

Just popping in to say a quick hello. Lots to do with dad today. Appts and such.

Sister and her hubby are driving up today. Not sure how she will do on the trip. Haven't heard that things are changing at all with her cancer situation.

Bunny, I hope you can get some time to yourself soon. Hugs.

Enjoy your day everyone. Will be busy through next week but will try to jump in and catch up on things.

Bunny, love the outfits you did. I hope that once you start selling, they catch on and keep on selling. You do such fine work. Love them!!!!
Went out for breakfast with my sister today, then just kind of lazed around the rest of the day, did grill brats outdoors. I crocheted 4 new hats today.
It was a pleasant day out today, in the 70s and low humidity. More tomorrow, if it is, I will be out in the garden weeding.
Have a great evening,

Hello!

So, as Murphy demands, as soon as we put our home on the market, everything went kaput! The pool heater needs a part. I went to twist open blinds and snapped the rod right off. All those kind of nuisances. But, we are handling them one at a time and moving forward.

So far, no more visits from Larry, the llama. Probably because he is under "house arrest". Since his last "lark", Larry has been locked in a stall. I can't comment further than that and not be rude.

So, as I have told you many times. It is our first weekend with the house on the market. Naturally, DD calls yesterday saying, "Hey! We thought we'd come visit for the weekend." Uh, no. Not this weekend or next. Talk to me later about it.

We have been so busy getting this house in perfect condition to sell. And I know I have been complaining about the aches and pains, but how in the world did I bruise my feet? I wear normal shoes, rarely am barefoot ... I do feel bruised from head to toe. Now I have proof.

I certainly hope everyone's silence is due to a wildly exciting summer and not illness or other problems. Hope to see some posts soon. Stay safe.

Marianne, selling a house is a big deal and a big pain. Hope all the critters from down the road behave. Murphy is working overtime on you. Fun times. Sure you want to move?
I'm sure it will all turn out. I too am wondering where everyone is. I don't have anything exciting to talk about. Just sewing.

I did finish up 4 more outfits. Still no sales. I'm trying to be patient. I need to start blogging and getting more Maryjane supporters. I'm linked into the "girlgab.com" site. Blogs are sooo much work. First pictures of everything, then processing them. Then coming up with something interesting to say and finally loading it all online.

I'm headed off to a yard sale today. There are suppose to be some nice clothes for really cheap.

I'm hoping to hear from the college this week for an interview. I'm trying to stay calm but I'm worried too. I really need this job.

Later! Have a good weekend all you lurkers....I know you are out there!

Bunny, I will keep you in my thoughts. I know how you want to just be calm and know that things will work out, because, of course, they always do. But, yet, there is that nagging thought that keeps popping in your head, what if?

I hope you get the interview call shortly so you can check that off your what if? list and get the interview under your belt. Once you have done all you can, you can relax and know it is out of your hands. That is where we are with the house sale. The house is in very good shape. No repairs are needed. We think it is a remarkable piece of land with the view that I am always carrying on about. Someone will fall in love with it, as we did. I just hope they come along soon because ywe do feel like we are putting our life on hold. But it is the choice we have made, pain in the butt and all.

Best of luck Bunny in scoring at the sales.

I am here, just been busy. Between working and weeding, I had to get out and do that while it was not too humid. Now today the dew point is back up there, so makes it hard to breath. I must get done what I can on the good days. Our 150th birthday celebration is still going on through this weekend, tonight is supposed to have the best fireworks. We went and got a load of wood scraps the other day, so we are hoping to have a fire in the fire pit tonight, if it is not too windy. That is the problem around here living so close to the lake, and up on a hill, it is so windy all the time. I will try to post more later,

Jan, a bonfire and fireworks sounds like a great time. Hope the humidity dies down for you. The wind does help when it is so humid, though, doesn't it? How have all the extra visitors impacted the store's bottom line? I hope it gave it a hefty boost. Have a fun evening.

Well, the fireworks just got done with. We could see them pretty clearly right from our backyard. We had a fire in the fire pit, I roasted marshmallows. We have lights in our canopy, so it was nice and lit up with the lights and the fire. Looked like we were camping out. Love it. The weather is perfect right now, the wind was mild, humidity lower and warm enough to be short sleeved.
Sure has been quiet on here lately. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and weather. Summers do seem to get busier for everyone, especially if they have animals and gardens.
Have a great evening,

Boy, it is really quiet here lately. Hope everyone is alright and just having a fun filled weekend. It is 78 degrees here and humid, so it feels so much hotter. We have such heavy air here, makes it hard to breath. I did not do much today, went out for breakfast, did a little grocery shopping, and then came home and watched movies and knit the rest of the day. We outside for awhile, but too hard to breath out there, much better in here with the fan blowing.
Hope to hear from you soon,

Good evening everyone,

Sorry for the long pause in posting. I did try the other night when it said the board would be closed from 7 to 8 CST well what does that mean for me? Well, at 9 the post would not work. Some time I might relearn about time zones. lol

G and C did well at soccer camp. G learned a lot of skills and could follow the directions. C had a harder time following the directions given in the group. He only had the meltdown that one day. Neither of them had ever participated in a camp or a group activity that they were not closely supervised in ever before. So, they were both wildly successful. They both went to sleep quickly each night.

T had all star baseball practice in the evenings last week. He had two games on Saturday and his team lost both games. To be fair to Talie's team they were boys from four towns that played together a few times. The other team is from one town and played together all season. It is just the way the league and towns are set up.

Yesterday we planted my friend who died in the spring and her partner who died 16 years ago. They were both cremated and the ashes were mixed. We had a bench made and a plaque with their pictures and some words I wrote. We had about 60 people. Each person had a story and they were all pleased to tell them. It was a celebration.

Today we put in the last of the hay. I am relieved it is done and very happy it has not rained long enough for it to have been baled.

Mar I do hope the house sells soon before the basement springs a leak. That would be Murphy that would happen around here or the well water to turn color. I hope there are many people interested in looking at it. A few years ago now there was a bidding war on a house with ten acres on the other side of town . I think there were three families interested in the property. The property was listed for 230.000 and sold for over 400,000. It sure did mess up our property values but the seller was tickled.

Jan the fireworks sound great.. I do hope it has helped the economy of your area. Do you have air conditioning?

Bunny I Hope you sell those bright and cheery dresses. You do have an eye for combining colors.

Sweet dreams,

Holly

Denise, I bet you are sleeping well after all the running around with the little ones.

Holly, nice to hear that all is well at your house with all your sports players. I remember T's team being at a disadvantage last year for that reason, too. It sounds like C & G are really learning social skills by leaps and bounds. And I am sure the celebration would have made your friends quite delighted.

This morning I broke my coffee pot carafe. Everyday it is something!

hello gals, just popping in to see what everyone was doing. it is raining here (hallelujah!!) we have been needing it so bad. my sister and her husband came down to be with me on my birthday. that part was nice, my brothers getting angry with them wasn't. granted, i see their side of it but i see diana's too. she did get a lot of stuff out of the house and now that that part is over i can get really ruthless with what is left. i would love to keep everything but at some point you just have to say enough. and i do plan on getting an rv in 3-4 years and traveling so i don't need to collect a lot of stuff. yesterday for my birthday i went to applebee's for lunch and had a blast. yes, i was by myself but i enjoy that and my waiter was a cutie! i would have taken him home with me in a heartbeat...reminded me of what my sweetie looked like at his age and he called me "darlin" and waited on me hand and foot and it was just great.
holly, love the idea of burying your friends together. that is what i have asked my sister to do with me and my husband when i go.
bunny, love the outfits, they are too cute. sadly, i don't have any kids to buy for...
we will be going to a barcode sytstem for textbooks this summer so i will be doing a lot of overtime in a couple of weeks. i had hope for the computer system people to do it but their quote was outrageous so my crew was stuck with it.
got to go to work...
hugs to all
