Last week my sweete and I and another couple went to Sedona AZ. We spent the whole week sight seeing. It was wonderful. The red rock country was Gorgeous!!.
We saw the Metor Crater in Flagstaff, and The Grand Canyon was Awesome. Shopped @ a few Navajo stores and wayside stands on the reservation. I got a silver thimble, for my collection, that was made by the cutest little Navajo lady. We rode the train in the Verde river valley and saw Eagle and a family of Javalinas. There were cliff dwelling Indians in this area in 1000A.D.-1400A.D. and we saw some of these remains. On the last day we visited Tuzigoot (more Indian dwellings) and went on to the big city of Jerome,AZ. This town was a copper mining boomtown around 1920's. Now it is a town of 480 people. It is built on the side of a mountain. the main street is on 3 levels as the road switch backs up the mountainside. Most of the vintage buildings are now antique and art shops. We especially enjoyed this unique town.
If any of you farmgirls live near or know of these places I just wanted to share how much we enjoyed them. The scenery is so very beautiful and different from the southeast. I could be very happy living in AZ. I have also been to Tucson several times and enjoyed it too.
For those of you who are able this is a great state to visit. Lots of hiking available and the state and National parks are wonderful.
We had a great time and are now trying to recover from our very busy week.

Yes Teddie I agree. My husband and I have visited Tucson numerous times, go to the mountains hiking, and spent time at the Mile High Ramsey Canyon, and a place I can't remember the name near Green Valley. It is beautiful there, and I love all the plants! My husband went for the birds and reptiles, and I just went.....I just crocheted/hiked/read/ just enjoyed!

I have to agree too. Our older daughter moved to Phoenix 5 years ago, so that has been our vacation spot ever since. For a flatlander in NW Indiana, Arizona has tremendous variety & beauty. From the desert in Yuma to the cotton fields around Phoenix to the snow in Flagstaff to the awe of the Grand Canyon. Nothing to compare to it here in the greater Chicagoland/NW Indiana area! But, personally, I don't know that I would trade in the Midwest for that. For Colorado, Tennessee/NC areas, I'd go in a heartbeat, but the hot desert hasn't ever held much attraction for me.

Fun to see how places are different isn't it? I like to think I would move there, but I might miss all the green here @ home. I'd sure like to try for awhile anyway.

Well I am a bit partial to the State! Born in Casa Grande, lived in Tubac and Tombstone (parents still do), went to college in Douglas and Flagstaff and met my hubby at the Grand Canyon.

Thanks ladies. It's a beautiful state and a lot of people only envision the whole state looking like Yuma or Phoenix.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!
