I ask this every year and I love to hear everyone's Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner plans

This will be my first no wheat-gluten/no sugars added holiday so I've had to dump some well loved holiday favorites. I love dressing with my turkey and gravy but I can't make it with any bread that my sweetie will also eat(picky as a toddler, that one!), so that goes. I also have to be very careful with things like eggnog, too much-too heavy bleh! As soon as autumn hits I'm making up my holiday menus! It's been my tradition since I taught myself to cook way, way back and has evolved through out the years.

So, here is my snobby holiday menu

Thanksgiving Dinner ~

Light salad of baby romaine, walnuts and pomegranate
Roast turkey
Homemade turkey and mushroom gravy
Homemade Cranberry sauce
Roasted golden potatoes
Homemade almond crust pumpkin pie and hand whipped vanilla creme

Christmas eve menu ~
Pre-dinner nummies include ...
*Sauteed portobellos (I'm a serious mushroom lover)
*Homemade nut crackers
*Triple creme cheese and/or brie
*Sliced pear
*Mixed nuts
*Likely sparkling water as neither of us drinks much
Dinner will be...
*Roast loin of pork stuffed with a mince of figs, shallots and pine nuts with a cracked pepper crust
*Wild rice in butter
*Braised asperagus
*Flourless dark chocolate cake with raspberry sauce & espresso for after dinner sweets

How 'bout you?

1. Simplicity
2. Peace

I have not even thought more than a turkey, potatoes and side dish.

Wonderful idea Kristina!!! We all could use a healthy dose of simplicity and peace in our lives!

Debbie, here is my gluten free almond crust recipe.

1 1/2 generous cups of almond meal/almond flour
3 tabs of melted sweet butter
2 tabs organic sugar
dash of salt

In a bowl blend all ingredients together well. Preheat oven to 350. Press into pie tin and bake for 10 minutes or until browning lightly. Be careful as it burns easily! Let cool and pour or splop in filling and bake however long the pie calls for. It doesn't make a flaky crust, it's more like a firmer cracker crust.
