Thought I would post some pictures of some of the flowers I grew in my yard this year.

some pictures of one of my Hibiscus:

This year I decided to start some zinnia plants from seeds and they grew so quickly and the flowers were beautiful.

I didn't know that zinnias attracted butterflies. I wish I knew what kind of butterflies they are. Hope you like the pictures :-)

Jessica, your flowers are beautiful. I'm going to try zinnias next year and I hope that they are as pretty as yours. The hibiscus is a very pretty pink color. My fav and most easy for me to grow are the small marigolds. While the fragrance isn't much to brag about, They grow lush and full of blossoms in my flower garden.

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

Betty, the zinnias I planted this year were giant zinnias. They were easy to grow, once I planted them outside they grew pretty fast.

Nancy, I do have a nice camera but it's getting old and I'd like to get it replaced sometime.

Kathy Thanks so much for the link. I don't know much about butterflies so thanks for figuring out what kind my butterflies were. Carole unfornately I don't know what kind of hibiscus I have. I got the hibiscus plants from a family friend. She reccently moved from a house to an apartment so she couldn't take them with her. I also have a white hibiscus as well. I'll try and figure out what kind the pink hibiscus is and let you know.

Jessica, thanks for your comeback. I think I will try some zinnias next year also. I did grow some orange cosmos (freebies I got in the mail) and they were lovely and really lush. I have plenty of seeds for next year. I usually start my gardening in February. I put a cold frame on my concrete patio and it (since it's on the south side of the house) gets plenty of sun and the plants start early. I also do some winter planting in milk jugs and that works really well unless I overwater and they damp off. So Zinnias it is next year along with the marigolds. Should make for a lovely garden.

Let's see if I can find some pictures of my summer garden. It looks terrible now. It's waiting to be tilled under with all the leaves, etc. That's as soon as it quits raining and I can mow one last time.

Thanks for the kind words, Nini. Things really grow well here in the Columbia Basin. My soil is very sandy and add to that a few bags of steer manure and things really grow. I start most of my plants from seed and VOILA, that is what you get. When I first moved here to this house, I had beautiful dahlias, but they were so much work what with digging them up in the winter and trying to keep them from drying out, that I gave up on them. I'm pleased with the results and all the tomatoes that I got this year.

Jessica, you should have seen it two years ago and the year before that when I had cancer. The plants looked like they were ill too. I don't think I picked one tomato from the vines. I'm better now and so are they. Hope I can do as well next year. I'm planning on starting all my plants from seed and not purchasing a one!

Oh, girls, I do love seeing the pictures of the gardens. I am posting a few pics of mine although this year has been one of those I'd rather forget due to some health issues.

Well, that's enough ... I get carried away. :)

Lovely pics Carole! Especially the top two. What kind of flower is it? Would love to add it to my garden next year!

Carole, the photos are really colorful. I can relate to illness keeping our plants from growing well. I had that same problem a couple of years ago and my good growth is now just returning.
