I saw this in a magazine. I thought those of you who love dogs would appreciate this. I certainly do. Enjoy!

"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them,
and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart.
If I live long enough all the components of my heart will be dog,
and I will become as generous and loving as they are."
Anonymous

When I read this, I thought of all the dogs that owned me. How true!

What a wonderful sentiment. Rescued many dogs and cats, each did take a piece of my heart at their passing. Have two dogs now, one 13yrs and one 4yrs. So much love with all of them which overshadows the pain of loss.

Thank you, Marly.

Thank you for sharing that... It's a very nice thought! I have always had rescue pets. They all have been wonderful!

That is so true. Dogs are so special. I have an 18 month old Border Collie coming to see my sheep tomorrow. I have been wanting a full blooded BC for so long. I hope he works out for me here.

Thanks for sharing, Marly.

Kris, great news on the BC. You'll have to post a picture.

Linda: Me, too. That's cute how you worded that. "I must be all dog by now." If I could have a tiny bit of love that each of my dogs have left me, then I'll be okay.

Marly, I have this very saying stuck to my picture of Hobbs. I read it shortly after his death last fall and thought it was a keeper. The other quote I have on his picture is "Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened". Which I do, but it's still a smile through the tears I shed for him.

Thank goodness they do leave us with a bit of their love.

Audrey

Audrey, I remember when you lost Hobbs. I was so sad for you. Not long after I lost my Luck Dog. When I saw the "It Came to Me" message, I had to smile. It's so true.
Hobbs was surely a handsome fellow. I don't think we ever get over loosing our furry children, we just get through it. Thanks for sharing.

Audrey, as I pressed the Submit Reply button, I saw the author of quote's name, Cheryl Zuccaro. Thanks. On the one I found, it had Anonymous.
It's nice to know who wrote it.

Your welcome Marly. Yes, when Hobbs left so did a lot of the fur kids from the forum. There was a lot of them all at the same time. I remember you losing Lucky Dog too. But yes, they all leave us with pieces of their hearts. I am blessed now to have a piece of Kippers heart though hopefully he'll stay a good long while! I am no where near as generous as my puppers were or are, but I too have several pieces of dog hearts. We are truely blessed to have them in our lives aren't we?

Four days ago our sweet and loyal cairn terrier (exactly the same as acairnsmom aka audrey)...past away. My husband had him for 16+ years and I took care of him for 10+ years. My heart still ache after 4 days. I can't type too much because it makes me cry to let him go....

Annie: My heart hurts for you. Many of us here, know exactly how you feel. I am sorry for your loss. When you are ready, come back and share Audrey's story with us. I know I would love to hear all about her. Sending hugs your way.
