Well Miss Julia, funny you should ask. I just made this yesterday and there is none left today, guess that says someting! I used homemade applesauce and the topping is streusel like but crunchy.
Reminded me of very moist applesauce cake.
It's from www.recipezaar.com
SPICED APPLESAUCE BREAD
Topping:
1/4c. pecans
1/4c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Batter:
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 c. sugar
1/2 c.veg. oil (I left this out, on purpose)
2 eggs
3 TBS milk
2 c. flour
1 tsp.baking soda
1/2 tsp baking pwdr
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. pecans , chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two 7 x3x2 loaf pans.
Mix topping ingredients and set aside.
Mix applesauce, sugar, veg.oil, eggs and milk.
In a seperate bowl mix baking powder, baking soda, salt, spices and sift with flour. Fold in pecans. Add wet and dry mixes and blend together, pour into loaf pans.Sprinkle with topping mixture and bake
at 350 for 45-50 minutes. Cool before slicing.

with a happy heart

Thank you very much! Looks very good - I'll give it a try! I am going to have a ton of applesauce and thought it might be good try to use it up on Christmas gifts!
