I'm getting annoyed beyond belief at people sending/posting stories which are so one-sided, I want to scream. I'm also annoyed at the news which seems to be leaning into yellow journalism. It's starting to be where we don't even listen much any more to the news and should some story get through, we are so skeptical, it's mostly discounted.
I keep telling people, I'm not bi-partisan, I'm UN-partisan, but, still the postings!! So, I shoot out the opposite side of a story, just to keep it on an even keel and to make myself feel better.
Thanks for letting me vent....

Well, everybody is going to believe what they're going to believe, ya know, regardless of what is true or not. On FB, I have actually "hidden" someone simply because I got really tired of all the conspiracy and weirdness he posted each and EVERY day, sometimes 10 times a day. I generally get people's political agenda, and really, to each his/her own--I believe what I want to (and try to educate myself, stear clear of propaganda, etc...) but I also try to be respectful to other people who I might offend if I have an opinion. My daddy always told me not to talk about politics or religion--with anyone, especially your good friends, and so I don't.
I did tell one person off after a while because she didn't seem to adhere to any sort of ability to censor herself and was absolutely offensive, but didn't take anyone else's feelings into consideration, all the while under the guise of being "good and religious" but that was a bit ago, and I don't miss her and I doubt she misses me...

Agreed! I live right in the middle of a political mess, and I am beyond sick of it. It has reached the point I am going to put Willie Nelson as a write-in candidate!

i'm like jonni in that i don't talk religion or politics--
i tend pretty much to be in one party however i truly like to look at the whole picture - and i respect what others believe since i want them to respect me/my right to my beliefs.
i have taken ppl off my fb friends list becuz they do not know how to keep their opinions to themselves...i just got sick and tired of it!
i will vote . that said, i'm ready for the campaigning, commercials and signs and etc etc to be over with!

Politics are just down right ugly. I can understand why it gets so tiresome to hear about it, but I also believe it is a huge deal for everyone to be a part of it. Like Jonni said, you have to educate yourself because, like you said, it is so one sided. You CAN'T just flip on the news and expect to hear the truth. You have to research it!! As Alyce said, Wisconsin has been in the middle of a big political mess for a while now. It gets so sickening to hear about, but at the same time, it's important to make educated choices and be involved. I discuss politics so that I can learn and hear other peoples' opinions and see where they are coming from, but you have to be careful who you talk to about it!!
As far as religion goes, I'm not afraid to discuss it or tell people that I LOVE GOD! I try to show my love for him through my actions. There are some people that try to shove it down your throat, and I see that as more harmful than good. It turns people off.
Both subjects can get so sticky. I wish people could discuss without it getting heated, but we have human emotions so that's not always the case!

Emily, I'm right there with you. I do talk politics and religion, but respectfully and with the understanding and acceptance of other's ideas and beliefs. I research, research, research because I want to make an educated vote based on more than ads, looks or sound bites. I have found where I can look up donors and see who is giving to particular candidates. I've found where I can look at voting records and bills that are introduced by particular candidates. And I also know where I can look up criminal and civil records!! The stupid ads mean nothing to me. They are just alot of noise. :-)

I'm tired of being called daily to take part in a "brief" survey so that the candidates know what to say to placate the public. Marianne |

I research things to death and then post them on FB. Let me tell you, it certainly hacks some folks off. They are so blind, in my book. I love to discuss/debate things, pros and cons, but have found most people don't. I try to be respectful of others ideas/opinons, but, have found it's 'usually' not reciprocated. Even people I've known since practically the day I/we were born!!
I want to know both sides of EVERY story I'm interested. Be informed. What is right for me, not led around. I'm finding it so annoying when people won't take off the blinders.

I too want to research and discuss each little thing that is going on in our society. We all need to be informed of the true facts. The blinders are what got us in this mess we are in in the first place. The ads, as far as I am concerned are just a waste of time and money to make them. But the scary part is that some folks make there decision based on those ads.
Have a great day everyone.

I don't watch regular tv and certainly don't pay attention to the random ad I might see. I take very little stock in facebook posts. However, when I do see something that strikes me, I do research on my own so that I can be informed and try to look at both sides of an argument as much as possible.
We just got our new tax assessment the other day... the county reduced property values across the county on average of 25k! This may sound great to people not wanting to pay taxes, but it puts us in a precarious financial position personally because of the loan structure on our home. Plus, my job is funded by tax revenue, so I may not have a job at the beginning of the year.
When politicians say things are getting better... I don't believe it. Plus, looking at things going on around the world, I think we need to better informed more than ever. But general mainstream political garbage.... I keep that stuff out of my face as much as possible.
Do what you love, love what you do. |

Well I think that it is a precious right for us to be able to debate. A freedom that has been paid for in blood. I wish the candidates and the American people in general would grow up and just look at facts instead of who speaks better or whatever. But what it all really boils down to is Mr. Ed for president. I'd vote for Aaron Rodgers!! He seems like a very nice person. For Vice President I'd vote for fellow Packer Donald Driver-he stopped into the restaurant where my husband works and dh said Mr. Driver is a real class act (though he did not allow his employees to swarm him for autographs, others in the restaurant did ask and D. Driver was very gracious about it).
I discuss politics with my husband but that's about it-otherwise I discuss my views via the voting booth! |

What is really sad is that this election is not who the candidates are, but who the candidates aren't. I bet a solid 75% of votes are not going to be "for" a candidate, but "not the other guy" votes. Anyone but Obama, Anyone but Romney, etc.
