Want to impress all around you with your recycling skills? Making plarn or plastic yarn from Walmart bags and crocheting them into the ultimate reusable shopping bags is a sure winner. Just google "Plarn" and you will find instructional videos on how to make the plarn as well as projects suitable to use it on. And it is a generation gap jumper as well. I am from the hippy era and was at a family function and took my shopping bag to show off. The reaction from the young mommas present was astounding. They were impressed. I decided to host a "plarn party" and get all of the young and old together to make yarn and learn how to crochet if they don't know already. What a response I got. The party is on for next weekend. I have made flowers from colorful plastic bags for decorations, coozies for beverages for favors. Will post how it goes.

Hadn't thought of that game to play. But this party is in the "bag". Gonna serve a "sack" lunch and if the guests get tired, they can "sack" out for a while. Maybe a game of bean "bag" toss would be appropriate.
I've made a few purses and totes with plarn. I like to get different colored bags from different stores. I have yellow, white, blue, and grey :) The colors look amazing together!

The party went fantastically. We cut a whole lot of plarn, tried to teach others to crochet, ate some great vegan food and had an all round great time. Plarn is not easy to work with so it was difficult for new crocheters to get the feel of it. They all went away promising to practice and I am sure they will come up with some great ideas.
