I was a rebel kid and in the end it has helped me. My little grand-daughter usually does what she is told to do and is not really a rebel, BUT the last day of school was the awards assembly. The school insisted that all the girls wear a dress. GD HATES dresses. She asked if she could wear her Easter outfit of dressy pants, top and shoes and they said "no". SO, she wore a pretty black, white and pink dress and pink socks and her bright blue high-top sneekers! She said "they don't control my feet!" Actually, I was glad to see a little fire in her and amazed that my DD let her do it since she is always so focused on her children being "proper." It made the little rebel in me smile. (She got 2 awards and a certificate for having straight As her entire time in elementary school.) Joey

What a great story! I was the same way....hated dresses and disliked it when I was told I had to wear them. So I always did it my way, which usually socks and shoes or boots that were NOT ladylike! It used to drive my maternal Grandma crazy but I turned out okay. Congrats on her awards!
Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Good for her! I like to see some spunk in kids if they are not harming anyone else. I was always "proper" until I got past 50. Now I do wear what I like and "rebel" at the fashion of the day. Thumbs up to your GD.

You go girl! I never liked dresses either. Another alternative to dresses, what used to be called in the day, coolottes (sp). Pants that were so flowie that they looked like a long skirt.

I agree that is a healthy degree of rebellion. Gotta love someone with great fashion sense, too. She sounds like one who will start trends and set standards. congratulations, Marianne |

Love it! Love it! Love it! God bless her! We all need to dance to the beat of our own drummer - even as little girls graduating 5th grade! I bet she's really something special, Joey! Congrats to her on her graduation, her straight A's, her awards... and for having inherited Grandma's chutzpah! You must be so proud! :) Hugs - Nini
