Linda, I am looking forward to our raspberries ripening. I have been moving the same patch from house to house over the years. They are still going strong! Thanks for the peek of your beautiful view.

3 beautiful postcards arrived in my mail box today. Thanks going out to Tammy for her beautiful ocean view postcard in California (what a relaxing setting) and to Nini for her picturesque views of Pittsburgh (loved those unusual viewing cars coming down that steep hill!) and I'm a history lover so you know I gotta love that your city goes all the way back to the 1700's! I love photography and bet your famous gardens at the Phipps Conservatory are gorgeous. The last postcard was from Connie. Lucky you having made that trip to Ireland last year. My dad's family on his mother's side are from County Cork and County Mayo. The open air flower market looked delightful and so cheery with all the color. Thanks gals, really enjoying the "happy mail".

More Farmgirl Fun....today's mail brought two more cards... The first was from Nini in Pittsburgh, PA- Nini, I love that you fit so much information on such a tiny card. I really feel like I learned alot about Pittsburgh- never realized that it has so much to offer! Sounds like you really do have the best of both worlds there- kind of like here on Long Island. Thank you for sharing so much info!
The second card was from my dear Farmgirl Sister Pilar, here on Long Island. Pilar is actually one of my "sisters" in our Little Henhouse on the Island Chapter. She shared her favorite spot here, which happens to be one of my favorites as well.....beautiful Montauk! Thank you for the lovely card Pilar! Hugs,

I got all my postcards finished and mailed out today. Which is a great feeling to have them done!
I am heading to Seattle tomorrow evening...going for a week to take care of my youngest grand-daughter Naomi. She came down with Kawasaki Disease (it is a cardiovascular disease...that hits children from age 5 and under) 3 weeks ago and that turned everyones life up-side-down for awhile. They caught the disease in time (a 10 day window) so she was able to get the treatment for it. For the next month she has to go to the Dr. once a week for an EKG and shots. So, grandmama is going up to take care of her for 9 days...so mommy and daddy can go back to work. While I am there will get to see Madeline's Ballet Recital...which I thought I was going to miss because of my move. I love how God takes curses and turns them into blessings don't you?
Love and Hugs, peggy

Well ladies,
We took a little camping and fishing trip for a few days and it was much needed, didn't catch too many fish but just sitting and keeping my hurt foot up and elevated helped so much so am better for it.
My neighbors daughter was keeping an eye on the house and when we returned she told me she had more fun looking at pictures on my postcards and trying to figure out what was in my packages.
Sassy, got yours and loved the pix of fall - also my favorite season and love all the fall colors too.
Peggy, got yours too. What a neat picture of the supermoon over the city. We were unable to see it here for clouds, so now because of your picture I got to see it anyway!
I will add these to the rest and look at them all again - this is so much fun!
Peggy, I saw where you got yours all mailed out - good for you! I can't imagine moving and all you seem to have your hands full with and getting this all done too - you are a super farmgirl I suspect. Also prayers for you and your family, I had never heard of that before. Thank God they caught it in time, Grandchildren are such a blessing.
Hugzz to all, Lainey Lou #3848

Oh, Peggy - I just read about your granddaughter. So scarey. The poor thing! There is nothing like a grandma to make things better. I’m so glad you’re able to go. I will be praying for her and for your safe travel. Please keep us posted.
LOL! Girls, reading your comments just made me giggle…
Peggy, as I was writing out my cards, my husband commented, "So, when do you start working for the PA Dept. of Tourism?" LOL!! There really IS so much to see and do in Pittsburgh! And what is really exciting is that they are filming more and more movies here (that's why we're quickly becoming known as "Hollywood East," but we're still keeping our hometown atmosphere - trust me!) - we've had quite a few friends who have been hired as extras! Always something to see and do. I just love it here! (What I Don't love, however, are the HUGE carp in the rivers - they'll eat anything, they love to swim with you, and I swear they play cards and smoke cigars! LOL!)
Linda those cars you see are called "inclines." They are very, very old, and people have used them for years to get up and down the mountainside. They are held and pulled by a single, huge cable; as one car is pulled up, the other is lowered down. Although completely safe, they are a bit rickety, and it's unnerving to be sticking out of the mountain like that. Further, the back of each is open with only a wrought iron grid between you and the "track." Eghads.... Everytime my mother is on one, she turns white as a ghost, and heads for the nearest bathroom when they stop. Yet she keeps on riding, because there is nothing like it! ;) Here is a really cool website where you can learn more: http://www.duquesneincline.org/ Enjoy!
Rebecca, if you and your hubby are ever back in town, please let me know - my husband is a welder/pipefitter... I bet the guys would really hit it off, and then we can talk "farmgirl!" We'd love to give you the grand tour! We'd love to give ALL of you farmgirls the grand tour - Pilar, Laurie - ALL of you!!! :)
Marion - hang tight, farmgirl! My postcard is on the way!!! :)
So, these are all the wonderful cards I've received so far - not in particular order, though. Everyone who has stopped by has been poring over them and they have gotten all jostled around. We all just love them, though!
Robin/"Birdie" - LOVE the cactus! Wish I could glamp with you and your Mom!!!
Marlee - the Jail looks formidable, and yet such beautiful architecture! Would love to see it in person! Is it haunted?
CJ! OMGosh! I love love love the pic!!! Hope someday I'll get to be there with all of you!!!! :)
Lainey Lou - You and your hubby are just cute as buttons! You look so happy and seeing you just makes me smile! Thank you for sharing your pic with us!!! Made my whole day!
Marcy, Marcy, Marcy! Are you TRYING to make me homesick!? LOL! Actually, it was such a thrill to see Newport and the mansions. We used to live in Riverside, Warren and Bristol, so we’d take the Mount Hope Bridge and be over in Newport in no time! As a matter of fact, my husband and I had originally having our wedding reception at Rosecliff, but we just couldn’t cut down our guest list - they only took like 200 people, and we had at least 350 at our wedding! Well… a girl can dream anyway! I used to love to drive down to the water and watch the waves breaking over the black rocky cliffs… Your postcard just brought back so many wonderful memories, thank you! And now my heart hurts, because I really, really, REALLY want to go home for a visit! Wah!!! Enjoy for me, okay?
Linda/Hummingbirdjoy - I absolutely love your Seattle postcard! That skyline and sunset is absolutely breathtaking! My sister used to live out in Renton, and they would visit Seattle regularly… She just loved it, and said that words cannot even describe all the wonderful things Seattle has to offer! Thank you for sharing!!! P.S. - I love hummingbirds, too… Never saw one til I moved to PA. First time I screamed and ran in the house thinking it was some sort of 3-Mile-Island Bumblebee! LOL!! Now, I treasure glimpses of them
Netty - when I read your postcard, I thought, “Whoop, Whoop!!!” What a wonderful place to be and wonderful sight to behold!!! We had a roommate from Nebraska, and she used to tell us all sorts of great stories about working in the corn fields, picking alternate silks… But she never mentioned the whooping cranes… I just think they are so cool!
Connie! Ireland! Oh! Those flowers!!! My dream is to visit there one day. I have heard of the rolling hills, the choppy waters, the old stone castles, the grazing sheep, the unsurpassed woolens, and the wild Irish roses, but never about the abundance of beautiful flower varieties! Just one more reason to keep on saving for that dream vacation to my great-grandfather’s homeland! LOVE it!!!
Sassy! We have really good friends who live out in Michigan! She once taught me how to make the most delicious pasties, but in moving over the years I‘ve lost the recipe - do you have one to share? There’s nothing like em! I love all the pictures of all the great attractions on your postcard, too. Now I know why they were so eager to move back home!
Linda D - If I had such a beautiful view of those mountains and raspberry fields, I’d probably never leave home! The picture alone takes my breath away! The air must be so fresh and clean! So serene!
Debbie - It must be amazing to see those Northern Lights first hand! SO beautiful! I have to ask - are you a member of the Moose Kill List/program? Our uncle is an avid hunter, and we’ve enjoyed moose and caribou whenever he has brought it home… I just read about this program the other day and thought it was brilliant! Simply brilliant! We’ve known so many people who have had the pleasure of vacationing in your beautiful state of Alaska! I hope we get to visit there one day, too!
Laurie - I just LOVE your postcard - it is just SO cool! SO farm girl! I used to live near the beaches when we lived on Cape Cod - there was nothing like just walking down the street and sinking your toes into the warm, wet sand. Do you collect shells and sea glass? And it must be so great to be able to glamp in your own back yard! Ours consists of a deck, a pool, a garden and a little room for the dog to do her duty - LOL! Did you take all those pictures? I love them!!!
Peggy - I cannot thank you enough for sending the picture of the moon! We didn’t get to experience it here, and when your postcard arrived, we all just “oooo’d” and “aaaah’d”. What an amazing sight to behold! That picture is incredible, with the city all lit up and the sun-like moon watching over it beyond the night clouds. You’re an awesome photographer, sister! Thanks again for sharing such a miraculous sight!
Darlene - I just have to tell you, when I was a wee little girl in second grade, we watched an amazing documentary on the Redwood Forests, and to this DAY, I am fascinated by the Redwoods. Your postcard is simply amazing - there just aren’t words to describe! LOVE it!!!
April - You must love the rich history of your town! I would love to hear more! I love the story behind that beautiful little chapel - it must be something special to see in person! Enjoy spreading your roots!!!
Marcie - that is such a beautiful sunset picture with the windmill in the foreground. Texas really is breathtaking, huh? I would love to see it someday and soak in all the sites and culture! Do you watch Junk Gypsies? Not that everyone in Texas shares they’re love for quirky-junky-shabby style, of course, but I wonder how many cool shops and trade post places like that you’ve seen when you’re out and about? I think they are so cool - not a style I could live with, but very, very cool! Inspirational!
I’m with all of you - this swap is FANTASTIC and truly like a mini vacation with each visit to the mailbox. You all are just so fun and wonderful and I love reading about you and the great places you all call home. Thank you for sharing these glimpses of America the Beautiful. We really do live in an amazing country, don’t we? Forever Red, White and Blue!!!!
Hugs and Happy Postcard Trails -

Nini, I am glad you liked the Post Card of the Redwoods they are going to be in a movie also soon with Will Smith. They were up here recently and stayed at the new casino hotel here in Loleta and then went to the redwoods to film the movie. It is called Ever After or something like that. They are gone from here now. It will be interesting to see it. We had 4 other movies made here. The Majestic, Satan's Lot, Out Break and Halloween 3 made here in Loleta. I only liked that one to see how different Loleta was when it was made. It was scarey. anyway just wanted to share with you.

Oh Nini, the old jail is said to be haunted. A paranormal group that lives in Deridder, one of the girls in the group I know . She and three others went in, and that were walking up the stair case and Olga told me she felt a brush of cold air go across her back. She said no one else never felt a thing. She does believe in the paranormal. Gave me the creepies. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Marlee

Pilar, yours was the only postcard I received today, what a view with the neat lighthouse and frothy seawater coming ashore. You are lucky to be able to enjoy it. Connie, no doubt you kissed the blarney stone at the castle while you were in Cork? Did you get to see the Bantry Houser estate and gardens? I've been told they are beautiful. I'd love to see the Charles Fort (shaped like a star). Nini, I did check out that incline car sight and I can tell you I myself would be white knuckled by the time the ride was finished but looked like some fantastic views to be had when you reach the top. lol....about hummers looking like 3-mile island bumble bees! Sometimes they "dive bomb" our heads when we are trying to change their feeders. They are so beautiful to watch and we have a most unusual red one. One of these days I'm going to figure out how to get some not so blurry pictures of these interesting little guys! They tend to be very shy or at least the ones here are that way. I know some people have them land on their shoulders or fingers...now, that is tame!

Well two more cards came in the mail today so I am smiling big as I write this!
First from Nini, I can't believe you got so much info on a post card, volumes compared to me, and you make it sound so inviting with so much to see and do. Great card and info! Makes me want to do a road trip, of course it doesn't take much to do that!
Second and from my home state of Texas is card from Sherry in Longview. I used to have a roomate when I lived in Austin back in the 70's named Debbie who was from Longview. She was crazy as heck - we got along famously! I hope she has forgotten as much as I have about those 'party' days, because what I remember would get us in trouble and in comparison it's nothing. We did have some fun tho'. Makes me wonder what ever became of her.
You said you were busy making jelly - what kind? We are waiting for the Kudzu to flower to make jelly from it. We are fixing to start having to can some green beans. I feel like I am gonna turn into one 'cause we've eaten so many - we have a really good crop this year. Saturday I am gonna cook a big ole pot of new potatoes and green beans then we will go to canning them for a while. My husband eats the sweet snap peas as fast as they grow and our cukes are just about ready to pickle. WE've got crookneck and zucchini coming out our ears so I made a vegetable soup the other nite when we were camping and my husband put a corned beef brisket in with it - I didn't think it was gonna be good, but we ended up eating almost all of it the first night we had it.
Anyway, ... keep those cards coming gals, I love the pix and hearing from all of you!
Farmgirl love and hugzz, Lainey Lou #3848

ninibini, thank you, what a beautiful city. I have never been there but it looks like I should. Thank you for sharing such a nice note. I have been very busy moving and have not sent out the last 10 cards so I shall get on that tonight. We will not have internet for a little while so I don't know if I will be able to post for awhile. I shall try and get to the library and use their computer.

Hi Nini, I got your card today, Pitsburgh really is a pretty place and some of the buildings are really pretty. I think I was there as a child but don't remember much and things have changed so much since I was young so it was probably alot different. Thanks for all the information on it. You must have gotten writer's cramp, I didn't write enough but I will know better next time. Thanks.
Pilar I love that Light house on the hill and what an awesome sky! I love clouds. The ocean is really neat and flat.. It is a beautiful post card. Thanks. Darlene
