Do any of you ladies drop spindle spin? I am thinking of starting. Any tips or advice are appreciated!

How funny, I was just thinking that today is a good day to pick up my spindle! I have been spinning for six or seven years and absolutely love it. What would you like to know?

A hook, a book, and a good cup of coffee....

Just wondering how to get started! What type of spindles are good to get started with? Since you are relatively close I say I should get lessons!

I occasionally get around to using my spindles every once in a while. The great thing about them is that you can actually walk around and stand up when you're spinning unlike if you're using a wheel. Basically, the lighter the spindle, the lighter the yarn. It's also very possible to use spindles for plying if you wish. Do you spin on a wheel already or are you totally new to spinning?

Elizabeth, if we can arrange a meetup. I would be more than happy to teach you! In the meantime, www.joyofhandspinning.com is where I learned everything I know.
