I just found an art that combines two of my hobbies. Watercolor paining and cross-stitch/embroidery. You back stitch a design on aida fabric and than you paint it. I want to try it. Has anybody tried it? I just ran across it the other day so I need to do some more research on the technique and supplies.

This sounds so interesting! I love to cross stitch and do embroidery. Never heard of this before. Gonna look it up.

That sounds like fun to me too. I have painted on fabric before, just with acrylics, with a fabric textile medium mixed in. I never tried the watercolor paints on aida. Where did you read about it?
Did you see our new henhouse, Hanging By A Thread? We are all about hand stitching, and the painting and stitching technique is something I would like to go into as a topic someday.

Kathy where did you find this? I'd love to see how it's done. I love to paint and cross stitch.

Mostly what I have found comes from Leisure Arts. The video says you can use children's watercolors. I am still researching about more expensive watercolors. You probably can use the acrylics with fabric medium but they will give you more of an opaque look. The watercolors are a transparent look. Just type in "stitch-n-paint" and see what you get.

I had never heard of stitch and paint. I am going to try it soon. It looks so easy and pretty!
