what is your favorite apple recipe? One thing I love to do is make a "rustic" apple pie. I peel, core and slice apples. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar to taste. Mix together and pile in the center of a pie crust laid out flat on a baking sheet. brush outside circle of crust with an egg wash and begin to fold crust inward onto the apple pie, will almost look like a wreath of crust up and around the apples. Brush folded up crust with egg wash again and dot apples in center with butter. Bake at 350 until crust is golden and apples are bubbly. Really yummy and easy!

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

This sounds so yummy - an apple version of what I make, that is about this same thing, called a plum galette - I'm guessing that this is a galette, too! Maybe Nance in France can let us know what "galette" means; I think it's French...

XOXO, Libbie

Libbie, I would love your plum galette recipe - I have 3 gallons of Damson plums to use! (see the post under separate topic, wish I had read this first!)

"Galette" means "wafer." I looked it up on babelfish :)

I think that my favorite apple recipe is apple crisp, or chunky apple sauce with lots of spices. Last year we did chunky apple sauce but didn't really use a recipe. We just added spices until it smelled right.

I'm going to be making apple butter in my slow cooker if the pear butter works out OK. Haven't tried this yet but I love apple butter.

My applebutter crockpot recipe is posted somewhere in the old recipes we love section and it is easy and almost makes itself if you
need a recipe. There are alot of good recipes posted in there for those of you that might not have seen them. I am still making Eileen's bread to rave reviews!

with a happy heart
