I just found out a few days ago that our pony Dusty is now blind in both eyes. Pics on page 6. My brother (our horses are kept on his farm) says that he walks into the side of the barn and runs into the other horses and the cow. The cow is rather mean when Dusty walks into him and he kicks him. My dad and brother are going to try and keep him on a lead line tied to a post in the pen with the goats. Other than being blind he is in good health. He is going on 18 years so he has lived a good life for a pony! We decided if he seems to get along ok with the goats and continues to eat and be healthy we will keep him around as long as possible. If he deteriorates we will do the right thing and have him put down. The kids are all aware of the situation and they have already decided were on the farm to bury him and they each want to say something at his funeral! Glad our kids understand the facts of life and death. One advantage of growing up on a farm with animals.
