Did you know that heart disease kills more women than breast cancer? In this season of hearts, we will be making HeartScarves!

Read more about the program here:
http://www.womenheart.org/programsEvents/programs/heartscarves.cfm

You can make your own pattern, using red yarn, either knit or crochet. You can also buy a kit from Red Heart Yarns, and portion of the purchase goes to the foundation.

The website above has the address for shipping them.

I'll be posting this on my blog, with a couple of patterns as well, and at the end of February, I'll do a link-up party like I did for the January Challenge.

Hope you'll join me!

Well didn't make it to your blog today but I'm sure glad I caught this information here. Can you really do your own pattern or do you HAVE to order the kit from them?

Ann,
This is the sweetest thing ever. Sadly I do not knit or crochet. Do the monthly challenges ever encompass other needle arts? I'd be glad to pitch in. I'm a newbie so forgive if you have answered these questions before.
Thanks,
Susan

Amy, yes, you can really use your own pattern. Your scarf just has to be red and the right measurements (I believe they are 5-6" wide and 60" long off the top of my head).

Susan, yes we do other crafting challenges. January's was sewing pillowcases for a local charity, and pillowcase dresses and little boy shorts for Little Dresses for Africa.

You can get info about both challenges on my blog (the info for February goes up on Saturday).

Ok, someone literally stuck a time-warp over my house. SO TOTALLY NOT FAIR! Anyway, the first scarf pattern is up - FINALLY! Just wanted to let everyone know.

For those who are new to crochet, we learned a new stitch (double crochet) and about repeats (within a row, and repeating rows). We also practiced making fringe.

Tutorial is up! Nothing fancy - just stockinette stitch, but some explanation for beginners.
