I am sure I know the answer to this, but I had to put it out there anyway:

Anyone else spend inordinate amount of hours around this time every year completely obsessed with an annual stack of seed and plant catalogs?

I usually spend so much time dog-earing, marking, reading and re-reading min from Dec-Feb when I finally place orders that my husband actually starts to become jealous of them. It's the thing that usually keeps me going through the winter - dreams of Spring and tackling a garden again.

My current favorite catalog is called The Cook's Garden - it has all organic plants and seeds and free shipping. I must control myself this year - I ordered about 10 too many vegetables for our raised bed and ended up lining them up in pots on our porch and having to create "teepees" of deer fencing to protect them from the hungry grazers.

Oh, can't wait for Spring...

I hate to say no, but no I don't. However, LOL, I am mesmerized by the way my Sweetie (Hubby) looks at the plant and seed catalogs. When he plants the seeds, etc... I am the one to water, weed, and feed. That is the mesmerizing part to me. I love it.

A relaxing with a cup of tea and a stack of seed catalogs is one of my favorite ways to spend a winter's evening :) !
They are my favorite "wish books" and a source of great inspiration.
Enjoy your seed catalogs!

Marly - I am so glad my husband isn't as obsessed with the catalogs as I am because I think we would get into a tussle over who would get to look at them first! Ha! But I think it's cool that he plants the seeds and then you garden - awesome teamwork!

Catherine - I know! I develop wish lists of seeds and plants enough to over fill our growing space several times over. I always have to cut back severely before I actually order. I ran out of ideal places to plant roses (I am partial to Buck Hardy varieties), but I got my favorite rose catalog in the mail and now I am tempted to order miniature roses to grow in pots.

I love all the garden dreaming in the Winter.

The rose is the International Herb Association's Herb of the Year for 2012. Even more reason to plant more roses this spring ;) !

I adore roses - all kinds. With having four little girls (ages 1 to 9) I don't get as much time to devote to my garden as I would like (or that it needs, frankly), so I often have to go for lower maintenance varieties of everything (which is why I plant so many tomatoes and chili pepppers every spring!). Buck Hardy roses seem to thrive even when I am lax in their care. I'm hoping if I go ahead with ordering some miniature roses for pots they will also be forgiving.

This was the first year I ordered seed catalogs. I know, I'm way behind the curve. I can see why they are so addicting. I could read them all through, put them away for a week, and then reread them all the way through again, rinse, repeat. My DD actually dropped one on the ground when she went and got the mail. Eek!
