I sent in my application for a rescue Cairn a few days ago and got a reply last night that they are starting to check my references! I've been looking at this 6 month old on their website

The other one I wanted is being adopted by someone else but this little boy sure is cute! They won't even let you choose who you'd like until after the application has been finalized so no guarantees on him. Keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer for me and maybe in a couple of weeks I'll once again be a Cairns mom!

Squeal!
Audrey

UPDATE 1/14/12
OMG! I just sent in the last of the questionaires that deal with which dog is right for us and this is where I got to tell them I would like this little guy! We are definately OK'd for adoption now we are just waiting to find out who. I'm like bouncing off the walls I'm so excited. I still don't know if I can have him but at least his bio didn't say somebody beat me to him (that still may be the case and they haven't updated the website). So looks like I'll know really soon who I get to take home.
Audrey

Update 1/25/12
Well, we aren't getting the puppy but we are getting this little guy
.

He is sprouting wings today and tomorrow and will fly from Minnesota to Denver on Friday where we will pick him up and I can finally be a Cairns mom again! I can't wait!
Audrey

Good boy Hobbs! I love and miss you

Audrey, Good luck! I've told my pups to keep their paws crossed for you. Even though they groomed him to look like a Westie, he is still a real cutie. You can grow his Cairn hairs back once you get him home.

Audrey, I hope all goes well and you get the little guy. He looks so sweet and is so cute. Can't wait to hear good news soon. How long does it take to find out? And where is he? You might have already said but I didn't look at all the posts.

Audrey, how exciting! There isn't anything like having wagging tails in the house to make it a home. Keeping my fingers crossed. Please let us know how everything is going.

Thanks ladies! I'm so excited! We had to give 4 personal references and one vet reference. Well I know they called and spoke with 2 of the 4 references and spoke with Hobbs' vet and I was waiting for the other two but got into work this morning and read my emails and looks like we passed with only 3 of the 5 references! Yea! So the next step is to have a home inspection. I'm really impressed with the care they take to make sure their rescues go to good homes but it's also nerve racking. After we pass the home inspection then we wait to be approved by the Adoption committee and after that we get to talk to someone about the dog we'd like! I'm so afraid there is someone in the line ahead of me that will grab up my little puppy before me! Ack!

Kris that little puppy is being fostered by a family in Arkansas. This rescue group is run by mostly volunteers and is nationwide. This little guy just happens to be in Arkansas. The other one I wanted was in Michigan. And there was a 3rd I was interested in that was in Missouri but I saw this morning he's spoken for now. None close to me but that's life. What makes me think he's the one for me is that his name is my maternal grandfathers surname, who lived in Arkansas. This little pup is a wheaten which was Hobbs' color and there is a video of him playing with a toy that looks just like Hobbs' first toy! Coincidence? or Godincidence? Time will tell...

Paula, he does look like a Westie in this picture! The video of him shows he's much darker than this picture. Also, since he's a puppy his hair hasn't grown out yet. We have a picture of Hobbs when he was just about the same age and his hair is real short like this guys. If I remember, their cairn hair doesn't develope until about a year old.

Thank you for all your kind words and having your pets keep their paws crossed for us! I'll keep you posted on our progress thru this maze!

Audrey

Good boy Hobbs! I love and miss you.

Good luck in the rest of the adoption process! I just celebrated 12 years with my cairn, Benny on 12/26. I know what a precious gift they are, and I hope you get to share your home with one soon.

He is so cute...and striking quite a pose in that photo. Almost like he knows he's a heart-breaker! Watch out, he will have you wrapped around his little paw in no time. Congratulations!

Yes, doesn't he know how to pose for a picture? His foster mom says he's all Cairn and has warned me I've got to let him know from the get go who's boss! She says he doesn't have a mean bone in his body but is the take charge kind of guy if he senses no one else is in charge. I'm expecting this weekend to be quite the testing of wills in the household once he gets over the shock of flying on a plane.

Yes, I knew one of those named "Mac"...he was all that and a bag of chips. A true Cairn, he strutted about my friend's Tudor home like he was the Duke of Windsor himself. I guess just be ready to hit the ground runnin!

Oh boy is he a heartbreaker!! Maybe it's nice that he isn't the spitting image of Hobbs? Each dog is so different. I am a lab lover and now have Numbers 2 and 3 and they have all been so different, but special in their own ways. You always look for your favorite traits from the last one in the new one, but find some new treat that your new pet does that is even better.

I wish you many happy years with him and now ... what is his name???

Congratulations,
marianne
