As I sit here and read and type I have a very warm lap. In my lap is our deaf Jack Russell Terrorist named...Freckles.

Now this lap snuggling is not the usual morning occurrence, as she tends to be quite busy most of the time during the day, chasing birds, barking at whatever a deaf dog can hear, and playing with her best pals Jonah, Festus and Diego.

But you see she had a wee bit of an accident the other night while doing her usual evening play-jag around the house. As she was jagging around, she got stuck in a blanket on the sofa, and fell off the sofa...breaking her tail :-(

And unfortunately the break is one vertebrae away from the actual base of her tail. We saw the Vet yesterday, and the x-ray does not look too good. We will be hearing today whether the Ortho surgeon wishes to put a pin in her tail to repair it. We returned home with pain meds, and strict instructions to keep her quiet...no rough-housing (um...yeah okay). Those of you who know anything about "Terrorists" have some idea how impossibility of those instructions. But I guess for this morning anyway, we are doing what the Doctor ordered, LOL.

Please keep her in your prayer for a swift recover for my little "Terrorist"

Margaret

Freckles is adorable! She can come stay at my house anytime, although I am not sure what my 10 year old Golden Retriever and 3 Dachshunds would say. But, oh that face is so sweet as Paula said how do you say no to that?
Speedy recovery and hope her tail can be fixed.
Farmgirl Hugs,
Deb

I will keep Freckles in the healing light and love. Such a dear one and it is never fair when these sweet ones get hurt. Give her a hug from me and one for yourself because I know us furry baby momma's worry and suffer too...

Oh! You made me laugh...that is exactly what we used to call our Phoebe, our precious and precocious Jack Russell Terrorist that God graced us with for about 15 years. I miss her! She looked alot like your adorable doll-baby Freckles. Love her name! Mine once had an accident jumping over a rock fence and had to have surgery. We were told to keep her still...sure! They are a handful, but so sweet at the same time. Poor little Freckles. Keep us posted and give her a great big kiss on top of her head for me! Hope she feels better soon!

Nicole

I just found this thread - how is Freckles? Did she have to have the pin in her tail? How's it going with keeping her calm??? That's a tall order. Poor baby... Give us an update when you have time.

I have a deaf border collie mix - he's 8 years old. He has some quirks because his first two years of life were kind of rough until we adopted him.

Sending prayers for you and Freckles...

Thank you all so much for all the well wishes for our Lil Girlie, "Freckles"! She seems to be doing better. Although she will not leave my side much, which makes doing barn chores rather difficult, LOL! Today was the first day she has not had any pain meds and she seems fine. We go back for a check-up on Wednesday. Her tail seems to be functioning fine...she can keep it up, and wags all the time, so maybe no pin will be necessary.

Bless you all!
Margaret

Just saw this post. I've been busy with our new little Cairn Terrorist rescue. I know exactly what you mean about keeping them quiet. That is next to impossible. My new little one is very food obsessed and I dropped a piece of lettuce from a TV tray last night and darned if Kipper didn't launch himself off the sofa, get tangled in a blanket causing him to do a summersault in the air and land on his back on the floor. He wasn't there long before he was up and grabbing the lettuce! This was only days after playing with a toy and flipping it in the air and chasing it right into a sofa leg. He hit it so hard he was stunned for several moments! I've really got to watch this one.

Hope sweet Freckles is having a good recovery! She's too precious to keep down for long!
Audrey

Hope Freckles is doing well. I have a cat that has a permanent crook in his tail because of a mishap with a horse. Its truly amazing how well animals can rebound from accidents.
