The humidity has been heavy here too. I am east of Houston. I take a sweat bath everytime I am out milking.

@Sara...I would love a 'dry heat'.
@Marie...I'm jealous.
@Betty...That is so true about a 'sweat bath'. When I'm done milking the goats, I am soaked and their hair is stuck all over me.

Fall is here. The temperatures have been in the 60's during the day and the 40's at night. There were actual wind chills in the north. Still, the sun shines nicely.

Today the temp was in the morning was 37, got up to 48, now it is only 43. Very windy, cloudy and cold. Our summer is definitely over the this year.

The temperature is 50 degrees but it feels as if it is zero. I am sick right now and cannot seem to get warm. We have cr*py windows in this apartment. The cold air comes in as if the windows are wide open. I cannot get some of the storms shut and the sashes are no better. The heat will not be turned on until October 15.

Yesterday we got 3" of rain and it's raining today. More rain is still needed. If we have a wet winter we may be out of the drought. Giving thanks for every drop we get.

I can't remember when the drought started - must be close to 7 or 8 years.

Nice and cool here. The temp. set a new record for the lowest "high" temperature on this day. Supposed to get down in the 40's tonight. Wasn't I running the a/c just the other day? And I'm getting sick with either a cold or I'm coming down with pneumonia again (hope not). Time to drink the elderberry juice.

We've had an unbelievably mild summer. Don't get me wrong...it's still been hot and humid. Usually, we reach triple digits for the month of Aug. with heat indexes up to 110. Here we are in Sept. and we never broke 100.

Yesterday, we topped out at 85. Wow!

We have a cool morning, but will have a week of mid 70's and sunshine here in the Chicago area. The trees are slowing changing colors and looking dazzling in the bright light.

We are having more rain this week from a front that stalled along the Fla/Georgia border again. Same old story. BUT, the good news is that the water temps of the Gulf and Atlantic are finally coming down and that means there is less tendency to form tropical lows in these bodies of water when a front comes down. When the front stalls, the warm waters kick up lows that drag tropical moisture across the state back and forth. This has been going on for weeks now. As we have less sunlight each day, the waters cool, and then as the fronts get stronger, they make it far enough south to bring us drier air and no tropical moisture. We still get hot days, but the air is drier and it cools back into the low 60s at night making it much more pleasant. Hoping for some cooler, drier weather soon! We are sick of rain. Everything is saturated, mildew on pavements and fences because nothing ever dries out before it rains again. So, Fall we all have been patiently waiting down here for some changes! It won't come too soon!~!

The temperatures have cooled down. It seems as if the heat shuts off every September 1st. The garden veggies are not ripening as fast and I have to close the windows some nights. Our dog has asked to sleep with us because of the chill.

Finally I woke up to some rain! We've had unusually fine weather here in the NW. Little rain this summer, lots of sun. That allowed me to grow some heirloom tomatoes along with scads of San Marzanos. Now I have so many green ones. Has anyone pickled green tomatoes?
I love the smell of the earth when it's rained after a long period of dry weather. Will be making pesto with all the basil. Must pluck it soon before our night time temps kill the basil.

Sidewalk was wet this morning and it was cool. Now the AC is running and it's set to 78°. Leaves are starting to fall.

Woo Hoo, Fall is here! While I don't get to experience the beautiful color changes of leaves, I do love the cooler temps. Today we reached 85 degrees and it felt so good. Well, good compared to 98.

The 'yuck' before the storm. Heavy humidity & little or no breeze makes for a very un-happy me. Storm forecasted for late afternoon but until it breaks I will just have to suffer through it - hopefully without loosing my peace.

Last night the weather man forecasted light chance of tornedo, good chance of small hail & high winds - nothing severe. Only here in Texas could you hear a forecast like that one.

Do they have AC in your area? I know my DIL in So. Cal. doesn't have AC, only ceiling fans.

We got A/C & mine is cranked down to 75. Mine usually runs from late March into late Oct - early Nov. Come to think of it that's about the time my yard starts to be mowed and stops.

People that deal with immune deficient diseases like MS that I deal with don't do well with heat & high humidity.

If I was going to describe how I feel right now - well I'm as crossed as an old wet hen. But I am doing my best to correct that and I keep reminding myself that this too shall pass.

Just as I wrote that the wind has picked up - the storm is on it's way - and I awaiting the sound of rolling thunder.

This morning is a cool 57 - a beautiful fall day.

The storm broke yesterday at 5 - was over by 6 - and I was without power from 5:15 - 10. Limbs down in front & back yards but no damage.

Tis a bit chilly this morning at 36 degrees, but is supposed to be warmer this weekend. I can live with that. Lawn needs mowing and will get on with it shortly.

Rain came in last night but cleared off by this afternoon. Nice and cool now with a bit of a breeze to dry everything out.
I think it will be back to warm again this week
