We could all supply recipes from our farms/region/etc and have it published in a cookbook? Has this been suggested before?

Jewelry, art, baskets, etc.

No it hasn't and I think it would be a fabulous idea!! I love cookbooks. We did this at our church about 10 years ago. I use that cookbook all the time. But it would be a lot of work for someone to coordinate getting the recipes and getting them published. When we did ours we picked out the publishing company first then they gave us forms to submit the recipes on. We sent those in and got back a nice spiral bound book.

morris publications does the fundraiser type cookbooks that churches and schools do. I don't know what all goes into it though.

Maybe Mary Jane can publish a farmgirl cookbook like Gooseberry Patch does, where we submit our recipes with credit and MJ can add her artist touch with stories, photos, etc? I've thought we needed one for sometime now, I sure hope someone can put one together, count me in for sure!

Fabulous farmgirl ideas!!

There have already been so many delicious recipes exchanged on the forum! As a beginner, I have been madly taking notes. In fact, I am making a peach pie today! I even got some vanilla ice cream to go with. MmmMmm!

As far as our involvement goes, we’re going to try to get to the calendar you’ve suggested but we might be “cookbooked and reciped” out for a while after all the work that went into our last special “Farm Kitchen” issue. We’re trying to wrap up our “Stitching Room” Workbook and it’s taking forever.

Mom has always said a “send-in your recipes” cookbook specifically for canning (a real farmgirl CAN DO book!) that included the story or history (herstory?) of each recipe would be precious. I canned peaches yesterday for Christmas gifts. I felt so accomplished at the end of the day. Even though I nixed the last batch because I was a little too tired and decided that a peach pie for today was calling my name!

One of my favorite cookbooks is a 1959 edition of the FARM JOURNALS Cookbook. A wonderful compulation of recipes from other Farm Girls!

I have an idea to get us started! If we have a favorite recipe why not just post it here and we can select the recipes that look good to us personally and just copy them.

It's one way to get started on some wonderful meals, from there we can decide if we want to choose another method of publication.

your farmette buddy,
Pennie
