My mom has a small chair like you might find in the waiting room of the dr's. office. And she has it sitting in her bedroom and wants to dye the fabric to match her new spread and curtains. What would you suggest she use to do that? She's afried it would maybe get on her clothes when sitting there. I have no idea, since I've never dyed anything before. Would like to hear your ideas. Thanks, Brenda

Much better off re-doing the fabric, dye will rub off onto her clothes, cause she wont be able to set the dye...plus dye is not true when you already have fabric color/design on there...

Dye can be tricky but if you rinse the fabric really well then set the dye with vinegar or heat it should not rub off. Tina right about the color not being true is there is already color in the fabric. You can heat set dye with an iron.

Thanks for the info girls, I'll see what she wants to do. I think it would be easier to cover it with another fabric. But its her choice to make. I really have never used dye or this is interesting to know. Thank you both. Hugs, Brenda
