Hello FarmGirls
I am right in the middle of canning season, and the last couple of days we have been doing pickles! Yum! I heard, from a lady at the farm stand, that when she does pickles, to really clean the cukes, she puts them in the washing machine on a gentle cycle! I wasn't brave enough to try it, my new washer was over $1,000. But hey, give it a try.
Here's what I DID try, and it worked great: I filled a big wash tub with soapy water, gave each of the kids a stray sock and we all scrubbed away! YES!! At last, something you can use all of the "missing mate" socks for. Gotta love it. Try it out when we are doing pickles.
