Hi! I'm hearing from acquaintances of how they use elderberry syrup to keep colds/flu away from their family, or make it not so bad. We don't actually get sick very often, but do occasionally. Our usual route is that we take apple cider vinegar every morning and if we have a cold we mix the acv with some other stuff (like ginger, cayenne, honey, and I forget off the top of my head what else)

SO-- my question is. . .is the elderberry syrup in place of the acv? or in addition? or ??

And if you don't have elderberry bushes around, where do you get your elderberries?

Thanks for helping out this ignorant mom! :)

I send away for the concentrate and then made the juice from it. I do this every fall. I have not had the flu shot in 5 years. My DH and I use the juice and haven't had the flu. The juice is really tasty. I used the computer and looked up elderberry juice. There are several companies that sell it. It costs about $20 something for 16 oz. and that makes quite a lot of juice.

I drink about 4oz a day.

I take "Sambucol" if I feel a cold coming on. It is a prepared Elderberry Syrup, you can get it plain or with echinacea. It works like a charm for us.
