Our two year old, Violet, has a thing for dinosaurs. Already with two Halloween trick or treats under her belt, my husband and I made both of her costumes (year one, a Martha Stewart Owl pattern, and year two, a monarch butterfly we made up ourselves)and we've always enjoyed working together and take great pride in "what" we create. But, this year, he started a new job and works 60 plus hours each week, AND then Violet said she wanted to be "Tiny" from the PBS series Dinosaur Train.

So, my husband went to town, sketching and trying to describe to me how he was going to build this face of a Teranosaurus (sort of like a Teridactyl), all the while working 60 hours plus each week and no end on the horizon. After 4 days of me saying, "but how are we going to do the rest of it?" and "she's not going to wear something made of airplane modelling stuff on her head, no matter HOW much it LOOKS like Tiny, because it's not comfortable!!!" he finally agreed that we should look for a commercial costume like most everyone else in the USA While I hate that we're not making it, I'm no expert on dinosaurs, no matter how much I love them.

I found one on Amazon.com and it's just adorable. Will stil have to tweek it a little for size, since it only comes in a 3-4 and she's still really a 2T.

We'll be ok, we just have to admit we're not superheroes!!!!

I am imnpressed that you are almost a month ahead of schedule on this! Wow! If I was a mom, I would be whipping out the lipstick the day of making clown cheeks or something worse.
Does Jus like his new job??

Yes, I am impressed too! She will look adorable and be so happy. That is the main thing!

I'm such a crazy Halloween lover, Lisa--I start thinking about decorations and costumes in May! So, being a month ahead is usually not that uncommon :)

You're right--she will be cute, and she'll be happy, so that's the main thing. Since we've been practicing saying, "Trick or Treat!" she's started each night, telling me a story about "the scawee mahsters eatin' candee in the trees, mahmee!" Not sure what that's about, but I just roll with it and say, "you need to tell those scary monsters to STOP eating that candy! Their teeth will fall out!"
