I received a phone call late last night from ny oldest sister, informing me that the grandson of one of our other sister's hung himself. A troubled young man in his early 20s, but had been in treatment and counseling. His parents (my niece and her hubby) believed things were much more positive and he was doing better. My niece and her husband decided to take a two week vacation. He was at their home, his older brother available if needed. Apparently he decided life was not worth living. He called his parents early last week to ask when they would be home. They tried to call him towards the end of the week but couldn't reach him. His older brother was not able to be reached at that moment in time either.
I cannot imagine how absolutely horrible it would be to come home from a two week vacation, open the garage door and see your son hanging there . . . dead, by his own hand. Indescribable!!!
Please lift this family up in your prayers, especially my niece, her husband, the older brother and sister. My sister and her husband, his grandparents . . . and all the extended family. For me, words fail me as I struggle with what to say or not to say.
Thank you so much! CJ

I'm sorry to hear about this, CJ. Truly a terrible time for everyone. Sometimes you don't have to say anything, just be there. I'm sure everyone is confused, frustrated, worried, and upset. I can't imagine coming home from vacation to that. Your entire family (including you) are in my thoughts. :)

At a time like this we can only pray for the young man that he is at peace. And for his family and all who cared for him, may God grant you all the strength to carry on and over time, bring comfort to you as you are able to receive it.
My deepest sympathy, Darlys - sister 3284 |

Thank you farmgirls . . .your encouragements and prayers mean SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much!
I believe this young man is at peace. In fact, I believe he and my mom (his great-grandmother) are enjoying each other now . . at the feet of Jesus.
My mom LOVED her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. I have a picture of her holding one of her great-granddaughters when she was a baby and the look on my mom's face is priceless. I can also recall her holding this young man in her lap when he was a baby and just enjoying him. He is at peace . . at last. . . with my mom.
Thank you again! CJ

I am so sorry for your family's loss. I will say a prayer for them tonight. He is with his maker, the Lord forgives the troubled souls.

The entire family lives over 1000 miles away so I am unable to GO and be there, to touch, hold, hug and just be there. So, my communication has to be via email and phone . . . so, it's hard to "be there" in the way I wish I could. I communicate and respond as I can and from my heart . . that of a mother, sister, and aunt.
Thank you again for your prayers and encouragements . . . it's a tough one! CJ

| There's not much we can say. We don't understand, but God knows all about it. I think it would be good tokeep in touch with them for several months and talk briefly about some good memmories of him, like you said your grandmother holding him in her lap and any other thing you can think of. We don't know why these things happen. We think we do but we really don't know. I'm so sorry everyone has to go through this-holding you all up in prayer. |

Oh my. So very sad. Your sister and her family will never understand it--they can't try. A person who is that despondent just never can get better--and I'm so sorry it happened while they were away. Thinking of your family at this time.

Oh CeeJay, how truly terrible. Saying prayers for you and your family. We had a friend who was in his early twenties and did the same thing about nine years ago. He still crosses my mind from time to time. It is truly a hard thing to deal with. Big hugs,

In a communication with my niece this morning (his mom), she said "it is so much harder than she ever imagined it could be". Her husband said that they have had so much support and encouragement and that is making each moment easier. They do know that they are being carried by God. So, continued prayers are appreciated. Services for this young man are Saturday, August 13th. Thank you all again! CJ

You are your family are in my prayers. My brother committed suicide a couple years ago, I understand the heartache that a family faces in this sort of tragedy. You are in my thoughts.
