I'll admit it: I LOVE scones. After having to make over 200 of them for my ladies tea at church, I wanted to try MJF's Orange Peel and Walnut Scones.

Another confession: I am a batter taster. I always taste my batter before baking anything. Now, I usually don't like walnuts in my stuff, so I took most of the big chunks of walnut out. When I tried the batter, I wasn't very impressed. I tried a piece of the orange peel, which was good, and I spooned the batter onto the cookie sheet.

I took them out of the oven, and immediately put them on the cooling rack. I walked away, and a few minutes later walked back into the kitchen.

The first thing that hit me was the smell. Those scones smell DIVINE. I went over to the cooling rack, picked one up, and tried it.

I then ate two more.

These scones are WONDERFUL. Seriously. They're buttery, but light with a perfect crust. I LOVE these. I may try scones with the Budget Mix to see if I can re-create the same results-they were awesome!

They are one of my favorite things from the Mary Jane store. I love em too! My favorite way to eat them is open-faced, with warm banana slices sitrred into a little warmed maple syrup and then poured on top. Maybe even add a little butter if the mood hits. It's the best breakfast ever when the temps start to cool down. :)
