Went to the Salvation Army this morning and all Christmas items were 50% off. Got a large potted white silk poinsettia for $4 that looks really good on my front porch.

Our thrift store put all Christmas items on sale for a quarter. I scored a beautiful centerpiece and some cute metal gift pails. Also found a lavendar zip up Land's End zip up fleece vest. Also found three clear glass trees I have been seeing in the magazines. I am going to group them together with Christmas candy in them. I also picked up 5 or 6 nice pair of jeans for my grandsons at a quarter a piece. Good day for bargains.
I found 9 fluted metal jello molds (I think they are jello molds) at the thrift store on quarter days. I am hoping maybe I can use them to make my lotion bars. Going to try spraying them with olive oil and see how they pop out of the mold. Bought a scale to measure weight for salves, lotions, etc for a quarter. Picked up a piece of really pretty green with a hint of blue shimmery fabric to make an infiniti scarf for St Patricks day. I wish you all could live close to me and take advantage of quarter days at our little thrift store. It is amazing what they have donated.
My latest find was @ www.shopgoodwill.com. I bid on some auctions in hopes of winning an xbox 360, a kinect sensor and some games that would help me exercise like I had while doing physical therapy at a nursing home after fracturing my right ankle. I won the auction and got an xbox 360, kinect sensor and 4 games for $65.00 plus s&h. Retail price would have been over #300 for all of that. I hooked it all up and it works like a charm! I feel so blessed.
This beautiful afghan, in perfect condition with no holes, tears, stains, or faded spots. Paid $3.00 for it at a thrift store. It measurex 88"x 72". Great for display in my house and for cozy-ing! CJ

The colors make me think summer, even though one doesn't usually need to "cozy up" in the summer. However, in our part of the world, evenings out on the deck can be "cozy up" cool sometimes! CJ

Some maintenance guys were at an apartment building in my neighborhood with 2 pickup loads of stuff they were cleaning out. It all belonged to a woman who had lived there for decades and no one wanted the stuff. I had just a few minutes to take a quick look and found this beautiful little dish.
There were numerous German tea sets. I am so sad I couldn't have gotten more.
This is a little bowl I found at Savers for $.99. It is exactly what I wanted.
DH thought the bowl was ugly so he bought this doll for himself. He said she would be his personal goddess. The costume looks very much like the ones worn in Kyrgyzstan.

That flowered dish is beautiful. Is Antiques Roadshow coming your way anytime soon?

This dish looks as if it was made in Berlin in the late 1050' or early 1960's. After World War II, Berlin was split into 3 zones each controlled by the Americans, British and Russians. The marking of "US ZONE" shows that it was made in that time period. Fascinating.

Two small square tablecloths, ecru with cutwork on the corners. They are about 3 ft. square and just perfect. $3.00 total for both of them. No stains, tears, holes, etc. Just my kind of thing! CJ

Had to be in another city yesterday for my hubby's cataract surgery. After he was released and before a followup appt. at the eye clinic we went for lunch and a stop in the animal shelter thrift store. EVERYTHING was 50% off . . YAY! I found a complete set of sheets with pillowcases for our KING sized bed . . paid $4.00 and they are in excellent condition. King sized sheets are pretty pricey so I was tickled all shades of pink to make this score!
Hubby and I both found one pair of jeans each, in great condition, for $1.50 each. YAY! CJ

Went to the local thrift store, they were having a $3 bag sale, or everything a quarter. I bought a tiered black and white long skirt. I carefully tore it a apart and now have 5 round circles that are about 8 inches wide and a couple of yard long. They already had a finished edge on both sides. I am wearing one of the pieces as an infiniti scarf tomorrow. You can't tell that I didn't buy the scarf. It is so cute. I have done this before with other pieces of clothing. I have a beautiful black, fuchsia, and purple scarf I wear and get tons of compliments on. I also purchased a couple of lambs wool sweaters I want to try to take apart of the yarn. One was a lovey pink and the other is a olive green. I want to try to make some felted round bowls with the green. I don't know what the pink is going to be. Anyway, thrift store rock and love the treasures I find.

Kem, I also love thrifting. I'm curious to see what you end up making with your unraveled yarn, what a great idea!
Found a sweet, soft, small cozy afghan to put in my kitty's "apartment" for her bed. She loves to "knead" that kind of stuff and it's nic for these chilly winter nights. Paid $2.00 for it, it's perfect size and she loves it! CJ

I went to Good Will yesterday and found two custom framed lace crochet pieces in the pineapple design. I am redoing my son't bedroom (he moved out this summer and we are now empty-nesters) into a guest room and these pieces are perfect.
