Here is something I learned to make when I was a civil war reenactor, and I've shared it for a lot of living history presentations. It kept very well and was every bit as popular as cola is today. The ingredients being much more common and inexpensive than lemonade at the time. Recipe is tweaked to modern convenience, but here is something new to do with or preserve your summer berry bounty.
-4 cups fresh blackberries, or raspberries, strawberries or any plentiful seasonal berries. -2 cups cider vinegar -2 cups granulated sugar cold water ice
Preparation: Place berries in a non-metal bowl or pitcher; add vinegar. Cover with plastic wrap or lid; refrigerate for 3 to 4 days. Strain mixture into a saucepan, pressing blackberries to extract all liquid. Discard solids then stir in sugar. Boil 2 to 3 minutes; remove from heat and let cool. Store in a tightly covered jar or pitcher. For each serving, combine 1/4 cup of the blackberry concentrate with 1 cup cold water; pour over ice in glasses. Makes enough concentrate for about 12 servings.

I'd describe as more of a tang. The classrooms I've presented it to are funny. At first they gag on the vinegar and say it's awful, yet no matter how many pitchers I take I never bring any back home
