Yes, a rod on it blew and shot through the engine. It's been hard to start for the past couple years and recently, I could never get it started. My dad can, so he came over while I was at work to mow my yard...and it blew up. So now I need to get a new one--one I can easily start. I'd like to get an electric one but I'm not sure where to look--Lowe's or Home Depot? I want to get one with a battery that you can charge, but I don't want to have to be replacing the battery too often. I don't know much about electric mowers. I can't use a reel mower on my yard because of the small branches, gum balls, rocks, etc. It takes about half an hour to mow the yard so I think an electric one is my best bet. Anyone have experience with an electric mower?

Cindy...I love electric mowers! They are so much less problematic! And you never have to have anyone come over and start it for you.
The only thing you have to do is make sure that you don't run over the cord. I only did that once...and Never again! Electric mowers
are also much lighter weight and easier to push, especially for a woman. I loved mine and I highly recommend them. Leave the gas mowers
and such for the men...they are too much hassle and heavy to push, unless you have the kind that propels itself.

Cindy, check out Neutonpower.com I have three residential clients who have Neuton mowers and they love them. No cords, just have to keep the battery charged. Light weight but sturdy. The batteries last for a year or more and one charge will give approximately one hour of run-time. All of these clients started out with brand x mowers from the big box store and they ditched them within a year or two because of continuous mechanical/battery problems and poor customer service from the store and/or manufacturer.

Thanks for the info! I decided to get one from Lowe's because it was on special. I'll try it and see. It comes with a two year warranty so I figure if there are problems, they'll show up before then. (Hopefully)
