Oh Farmgirls, it's back. That nasty taste in my mouth that signifies an overgrowth of yeast in my tummy again...the dreaded candida. I haven't had a bout for many, many years, but I can't seem to run away from this one. Do any of you have any sure-fire methods for cleansing the candida away? Many thanks!

Catherine

Do be careful! When nursing a baby it is possible to pass yeast back and forth!
Run to the health food store and buy yourself a super good quality probiotic supplement...I like the PB8 brand. Get some liquid, or the powder for Jackson...I use the Nature's Way Primadopholus for Children. It comes in a white jar with a yellow lid. YOu can just mix it in his food.
I am guessing that you already know to stay away from refined sugar during a Candida overgrowth?
You can check Jack's mouth with a flash light, to see if he has thrush, if he does, go to the pharmacy and buy some Gentian Violet. You might have to ask behind the counter....Swab it in his mouth, while he is in the bathtub. Be super careful, it will turn everything purple! My doc did this to Emme (now I just save $$ and do it myself) and on the way home she sucked on her toes!! They were purple for days...It was also turn other things purple *HMM HMM* ya know, (nipples)
If you don't take care of it right away you can get a yeast infection in your milk ducts...This is VERY painful! You will know if you get this....run to your dr. ask for a RX of Diflucan, a 10-14 day course! Jackson needs a RX too!

I know all about yeast, I have gotten in SO many times, it is especially tough when you are nursing....
Let me know how you are doing
Love.

Ohmygosh, Katherine with a K, you're amazing. I read about thrush and all that stuff before Jack was born but I didn't connect that my tummy yeast could get passed on to him. (DUH.) I think it sort of went away (though I know it never actually goes away.) I do know about refined sugar and have been avoiding that. But since I've got this new bout of illness (I still have it! One week strong!!! ARGH!), I've sort of forgotten about the candida. I need a general overhaul at this point. Am not sleeping enough, not drinking enough water, can't get rid of the sore throat and dry cough, am a mucous factory...man I can't wait for this wedding to be over so I can go home and take care of myself and my baby with my own comforts and my own "stuff." I will revisit the candida cures you list above then. I need a total workover!!!

Thanks for your love and support, you truly are an amazing mom and friend!!!

love, c :)
