The neighbors I'm on "no speaking terms" with threw away a wonderful 3 level wrought iron plant rack & some metal folding chairs-they were on the curb so I nabbed 2 chairs & the rack. (the woman there has to have everything looking brand new-one it gets rustic, out it goes) I nabbed em while their sprinklers were on! My jeans are soakedbut well worth it!

And it's always good for a laugh if the neighbor finds out.

Good job. Sounds like nice quality stuff.

If she finds out (she will-the plant rack is now on my front porch) she'll be mad as an old wet hen-she feels dad has too much "junk" as it is!

Way to go, Sherrie! I'm with you and Ceejay! I've found lots of cool stuff in alleys when I walk my dogs.

When I know "bulk" trash day is coming I take a ride around town in my hatchback. (my DD is mortified). There are many people around here who have the "everything needs to be new and matching" attitude. Doesn't matter to me. Their loss is my gain! I'm with you girls!

love it! I find things set over on our side of the fence all the time from the neighbors. If i don't want things i simply set them back across and they drop them at goodwill, lol.

This is a great post!! We have a spring and fall clean up here. I thought is run around the town the first time we had one after the move. I waited for my DH to come home...my mistake. The entire town comes out in droves, and everyone shops in everyone else's junk pile!! By the time my DH got home, lots of things had been picked over. The next time the clean up was scheduled, we made four trips around town! LOL. I got so much wonderful things. I love curb dumps, its like shopping w/o my checkbook!!

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Sherrie,
So glad it did not end up in a landfill! Now you can do some farmgirl magic on them. I have been known to "brake for junk". I should get a bumper sticker that says that!

This is what kills me:
Sherrie came to a sympathetic crowd (of reasonable people) and we're proud of her for being thrifty and scoring some nice goods,

while her neighbor is probably phoning, texting and facebooking all her friends mortified over the fact that her neighbor "stole her trash". ROFL!!

What a great deal Sherrie - good job! I love the idea about the bumper sticker and MFJ badge! Great ideas!

I have found some great stuff on the curb. I found an old iron daybed - its beautiful. A little spray paint and it looks amazing.

You're right Jen - I bet Sherrie's neighbor has a great tale to tell her friends.

A Sisterhood badge for junkin,eh? Now that's a thought!
I tweeted about the find, callin it curb pickin. One fellow mandolinist who follows me thought I meant that was playing mandolin on the sidewalk for the neighbors. That gave me a good chuckle! If she was on the phone, she has a beyond huge problem with my mystical beliefs, and willing to bet she's telling about "the witch" (not meant in a good way) who has more stuff in her yard now. (She's spread the word to the point another neighbor who doesn't know me was overheard saying to her "everybody has their own beliefs, you know")
