This is just a little funny...Last year for Mother's day my daughter gave me a pink plastic yard flamingo (last thing in the world I would have known I wanted). This year, so far, since Easter...every morning I wake up it is in a different location in the yard. My dh has such a warped sense of humor. Its pretty cute and makes me smile.

10 years ago my youngest was 10yo and we purchased a set of pink flamingos for the garden. They were promply named Bob and Number 71. They were dubed the secret agent patrol flamingos and moved throughout the garden through the growing season. 10 years later my DS has moved away, but the flamingos still roam the 7 acres. Right now there is one out back viewing the pond from a tree, yes he is up in the tree. The other is just back by the pond watching. I am sure as the garden comes up they will mysteriously make their way back to the garden for some browsing. DH is great about keeping up the tradition. This last fall during civil war season (football) one of the stores had flamingos in Duck(green) and Beaver(orange) colors. I promply bought a set of orange ones and have added them to the collection. Bought my SIL a pair of green ones for her new house and they have taken up to roaming too.

Judith, that's so funny. And what a sweet hubby to move it around. I love the pink flamingos. I need one or two here. That might just scare the turkeys though.

About five years ago, our church purchased a couple dozen of those pink flamingos for the youth organization. The folks in the church donated $$ for the birds to be placed on friends yards. Can you imagine waking up to half a dozen pink flamingos on your front lawn and all the neighbors who drove by seeing them. The kids had great fun with them and earned money for their summer retreat.

I have a pink flamingo windchime and a pink flamingo swinging on a rope in my vegetabe garden. I will have to check out the
dollar tree. I want more. I got mine at Fred Meyers. Love the whole Pink Flamingo showing up in various places in the yard.
Gives me an idea for pulling some fun on my Neighbors. Wouldn't it be great if they all woke up one morning with pink flamingos
in their yards. lol

I got a plastic one from Target the other day for just $2.50. They had some really pretty metal ones with flowy tails for $20. I want one of them when I can afford it. They were really pretty.

lol, i love this story! In my family my mom dresses the flamingos in her yard. I picked up two smaller ones as a joke mothers day gift for her trailer when camping. On my in-laws side it is a gnome. Mother in law hates gnomes. Every summer daughter and i find a hideous one and hide it somewhere in her garden and wait for the phone call. Sometimes days, sometimes months. This year the gnome has shown up at our river camp and shows up in different places around the property. How we amuse ourselves!

We use to camp every weekend at a campground in Michigan. Us adults would get flamingos, for sale signs or whatever crazy lawn decor we could find and do all kinds of crazy things to each other.
I once lined up all these plastic and cement animals to sniff each others rears in a circle in a friends yard.
And another frined took a small decorative wind mill and placed over another friends fire pit!
Oh I miss that fun sometimes!

You guys are a hoot! I think I will surprise my Sweeties mother with some flamingos. She will die. They have NO yard art or decor of any kind. Perfect lawn, edged walks, symmetrical shrubs on both sides of the door kind of people. I feel my impish side coming out. : )

My neighbor at my in town house has a koi pond out back that I can see from my kitchen window. He kept moving his bronze statue of a crane around to find the perfect spot. Or so I thought. I went out back to do something and it flew away! It was real!

That is hilarious. We talked about sneaking over to my brother's house, on his next birthday and gifting him a few flamingos.

No, it wasn't me! I think some neighborhood kids did it. All this talk about flamingos has me wanting to get one to put in the raised bed in my front yard. Have to go to Target tomorrow...

Oh how funny to find out how many gals have pink flamingos. lol I never liked them until one February 2nd, on my birthday, my sweet DH bought me 8 of them and stuck them out in the ice after an ice storm. The ice was so thick that we couldn't get them to stand up. I still have those crazy birds even though one was stolen. Probably kids doing one of their "I dare ya" stunts. Every spring we drag out the yard critters which includes 4 groundhogs,(well I was born on groundhog day, don't ya know, hahaha)and numerous frogs, turtles and bunnies and my neighbors laugh at my menagerie and remind me of the time, in the dead of winter, they saw pink flamingos in our yard, and "Oh how funny"..... One lady even stopped by my house in her car, on her way home to ask where we got those crazy birds, she wanted some. We always say, It just isn't Summer without "The Mingoes!"

Hi girls...well, I went to the Dollar Tree today and bought four flamingoes. I'm keeping one and
the others I am putting in my Neighbors yards tonight. I decided to do this not only from this
thread but because one of my neighbors stole one of my green garden frogs out of my garden and
painted it to look like a female drunken Mexican.(My neighbor is hispanic which makes this all the
funnier!) I laughed until I cried! So, he is the first one getting "Flamingo-ed" tonight.

blessings,
Peggy

Hilarious, Peg! I've had fun reading all of the comments from you farmgirls! My flamingo keeps moving around the acreage every day. This morning he is inspecting the footing for the new concrete walkway. I was a little nervous last week when he got awfully close to the edge of the woods.

Uh-Oh....watch him Judith, he's liable to go investigating the woods and get lost. Gotta keep an eye on those curious "Mingoes!' Of course we wouldn't want him to get"JimmyHoffad" in the concrete either!LOLOL
Peggy, what funny neighbors you have. Too cute. Love your frog. I collect frogs too. And turtles. And bunnies. lol Quicker to list what critter I don't collect. LOL
We are actually chilly here today. It's only 72/no humidity/sunny/gusty...so that makes it chilly!
Have a great Sunday girls!

Oh, Sisters.. I loved all your flamingo stories.. I have to adopt one now ! We go camping in the Rio Grand Valley in Winter and two of our "Northerns" have plastic geese. They dress them in their favorite team colors -- and the two neighbors appear to like rival teams. The geese try to outdo each other. They are such fashionistas!

Could not decide what story I liked the best.

Hey Judith,
I have a country neighbor down the road who has about a dozen plastic Flamingos....and every couple of days they are in different locations on her property.... it's always fun to look and see where the "herd" is each time I drive by.
I have 3 'Gaurding' my lil camp trailer out on our property... doesn't everybody? lol!
