There was a bakery by my home growin up. They made the BEST sandwich I have ever tried.(they also made a bread called Dutch crust, if anyone has a good recipe for this, PLEASE PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE SHARE!!) Along with a fabulous belated Mothers day my family gave me yesterday (see my post on Family Matters;), my DH found this sandwich with a Lot of research, and surprised me with it for lunch! It is every bit as amazing as I remember it. It's a bit BIG, and not a quick, throw together lunch, but occasionally, a wonderful treat!

It's a turkey sandwich, with cream cheese instead of mayo, mustard, cranberry jelly, avacado, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, and sunflower seeds, and guacamole to boot. It is a explosion of flavor in every bite! Soooooo Yummy.

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Nini, I got hips @ 19 when my first DS was born, and for reasons unbeknownst to me...;)...they've never gone away!!! Lol

Mary Beth, as much (or as little) as you want. He tried to go lite on the cream cheese and guac, but the veggies he PILED on. The sprouts my DH found were spicy radish sprouts, they added a really great kick to the kick cream cheese and the sweet cranberry. He also STACKED on the turkey and the cranberry, as they are probably my two most favorite foods! And seriously, I'm drooling, AGAIN, just from typing this lol. Make it and enjoy!

Thanks, Annette!! I just found this recipe for Dutch Crunch Bread. Is that the same thing? It is from the Bread Bible...http://bakingsheet.blogspot.com/2006/09/cooking-school-dutch-crunch-bread.html

Oh my gosh! oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Mary Beth, thank you! I have looked everywhere. It looks like the right bread. The bakery I double checked with said it was called dutch crust, but I just checked the local bakery, and they call it dutch crunch. I'm on the road right now, leaving my best friends b-day party. When I get home, I'm making this!! Then, I'm piling all these ingredients on it, and inhaling...I'll repent later; maybe.

Annette, guess what I made?! :-) Yep, the Dutch Crunch bread. I did it night before last, kinda late, and so it was just perfect yesterday morning for hubby's egg, bacon and cheese sandwich. He loved it. I made myself one too and took two bites, savoring every one, and bit down on something hard! I spit it out and it was my tooth - a back molar!!! Arrrggghhhh. It wasn't the bread that did it. It was just cracked and decided to break the rest of the way at that very moment. So it's a trip to the dentist today. However, I have found a new bread for sandwiches and have you to thank for it!!! Now I just have to go out and get the makings for your sandwich.

Mary Beth, your tooth!!! Oh no! I'm so sorry! You poor thing. The eggs breakfast sandwich sound so good too, and only a few bites, and then ouch! How frustrating. Now you're gonna sit at the dentist, thinking if only Annette hadn't asked for that bread...lol.
Funny, I made it yesterday. I was going to use it for lunches. When they were ready, about 3:00, everyone said they wanted sandwiches for dinner. The house smelled great, and they looked so pretty, and tasty sitting on the cooling racks. So, we had this sandwich for dinner. I took pictures, I just need to get them in my computer, so I can put a few up.
think you again, so much for finding this bread recipe. I'm with you completely, I am now a firm believer in every kitchen need the Bread Bible! &hearts

Annette, you wanna really feel sorry for me? :-) Just kidding. I got some not so wonderful news. Monday is Root Canal day. I've never had one. I hear they are awful. I asked for a little sedative. Hopefully I can think about eating a sandwich through the whole thing!! Arrggghhhh.

This is making me laugh, in the saddest way. Poor girl. I've never had a root canal either. I've never had anything done but xrays and cleanings at the dentist. I know lots of people get them all the time though, and they live to tell about it! Does that help? LOL. I'm so so sorry Mary Beth. My DH said your dental insurance will now go after me for posting a sandwich, ¦>O. I sure hope when all is said and done, it is the best darn sandwich you've ever had. It better be after all this huh? Lots of (((hugs))) to you!

I love turkey and cranberries too. Whole Foods deli has a superb cranberry glazed turkey breast that you swear came from your Thanksgiving leftovers.

Thanks for sharing your story, sandwich and bread link!

Annette, tell your DH that my insurance company's legal dept will give him a call! :-) I posted on my business FB site that I'd never had a root canal and as far as I know, a root canal is just a primary waterway in Panama!! I wish. Yep, when I finally DO get to eat that sandwich, I'm giving it a whole new name. Turkey and Guaca-MOLAR. gnyuck gnyuck gnyuck

Mary Beth,
I've had root canals done and they are not much different than a filling
except that you have to hold your mouth open longer which is a pain in the jaw for me. They numb you the same and then put a rubber dam over your tooth to make sure it stays very clean and the they go to work. Really nothing to it.
Hope all goes well for you.

Thanks for that info, Kathy. They asked if I would like a mild sedative and I was thinking, "Well, yeah!! Bring it on!" Knowing me, a mild sedative will be like anesthesia. I'll be out like a light because I don't take much of anything. Yes, you can say it. I'm a chicken. :-)

Mary Beth- Root Canals are not bad. They will give you lots of numbing medicine and you won't feel a thing but some pressure on your mouth. I have had 3 of them due to a bike accident when I was 8. I don't like the dentist either- but you will do great!

Don't apologize for the topic change. I am thrilled you're getting info and encouragement!! I've never had it done, so I couldn't give you any.

I took a couple of pics too, I really am trying to find time to get them downloaded. They dutch crunch is so pretty, and the sandwich is very colorful. We sliced up a fresh mango to eat with it. That was pretty too.
