Getting ready for a party here, and hoping to make some kind of shredded beef. I only have 4 roasts, and just wondering if anyone has ever cooked up round steaks, or any kind of steak, and use it for shreded beef? I don't think it would matter, as far as the meat goes. Just wondering if anyone has ever done it.

I have used rump roasts and round steaks come from the same part of the cow! Basically, any cut will work because it's in the cooking. Long and slow. That's what makes it tender and shredded! Have fun at your party!! :-)

I've used sirloin. We butcher our own beef and it's our least favorite to grill. I agree with Mary Beth - it's all about the cooking. Long slow cooking will make almost any cut taste great!

When I cook mine I always add a few boneless porkchops...just adds a little bit more flavor. I love my shredded beef recipe.

Good luck figuring this one out Michele! I know whatever you make will be delicious. Your cows are the best tasting beef around & you are a great cook!
