I am so excited! We have made the decision to relocate to Colorado for my DH's job and we are farm shopping! I will be headed up to CO the middle of this month and again in June to look at properties. Wish me luck!

Hi Margaret

So you are looking for a farm in Colorado - I am on the boarder of Elizabeth and Larkspur - have been considering of putting my farm up for sale - it is an organic property - no chemicals at all wiht 35 acres and a front porch view of Pikes Peak... I am a fiber breeder and artist. Have seven fenced connecting pastures, barns with electricity and water, three outside pumps, very large chicken coop and tool shed. The house is a log and rock four level with three bedrooms,l and 3/4 bathrooms. I also have a shop on the ground level. Sound like anything you might be looking for - I want it to go to the right folks who will honor the earth and those who grace the pastures.

I am not from Colorado, but have many family members there. We recently visited the Cortez area and it was beautiful there. they grow a lot of pinto beans there, plus alfalfa and other grains. I haven't been to the Kiowa area, but I'm sure it is lovely. I haven't found a place in Colorado that I haven't liked. :o) Good luck in your search.

Oh Grace, your farm sounds like an absolute dream! Unfortunately, we still have a home to sell here in NM and that will limit the amount we can get for a mortgage. We have found a place we think will work for us at a great price, I am heading up tomorrow to see it. I would love to meet you once we get moved though, as I am a weaver and am hoping to raise some fiber goats once we move up North! Thank you so much for thinking of me!

Glad you found a place and please do contact once you have moved - I will be able to tempt you with all kinds of fiber goodies and animals too... For many years I was a vendor at the Taos Wool Festival and love going down to NM... Have even considered moving their if I sell the farm.. Do you know when you will be moving??

So this was our second trip up to CO to look at farms. And once again, we could not find the "perfect" fit. What was worse though, is the one I thought was perfect, went under contract the night before I drove up to CO, my Realtor called me when I was an hour away and told me it was under contract :-( Needless to say I am very frustrated!

We did see another place, and we will pursue that one. It is not in a part of CO where I had hoped to live, and not as much land, BUT DH will have a short (relatively speaking) commute to Denver and this place has all the amenities we need for the critters.

Grace I cannot wait to meet you and drool over your fiber!! I cannot wait to re-set up my loom once we get moved!

So hope springs eternal! I am trying not to get too down, and keep an open mind! Please keep us in your prayers, Chickies that we are able to get this other place.

So sorry to hear about the first place but it just was not to be yours. I will keep you in my prayers and know that the universe will place you exactly where you and your husband needs to be. I too look foreword to our paths crossing and getting to spend some fiber time together.

Well my Farmgirl Sisters, it happened! Wednesday when I was up in Colorado, my Realtors and I were driving around looking at properties. As we were driving from one property to another we saw a sign for a farm for lease. We called the listing agent to see if we could see it. He said he had just put the sign out the day before and the property had not yet even been listed! He called the home owner and she said, "C'mon up!" It is a beautiful place, the house is lovely, there are horse amenities: barn, fencing and cross fencing. It does not have as many acres as we really want, but the owner did not blink when I told her how many animals we had, she is even going to leave me her chickens!!! This will allow us to get everyone up to CO and acclimated before winter, and we can wait until our home in NM sells before purchasing our dream farm! I am very excited and hope this all works out. Please keep us in your prayers! I believe it is the positude of you lovely ladies that helped us find our new home!

Margaret
