Has anybody been watching this besides me.? I am so hooked... I can see how this could work if the women all get along like this group seems too. It just really intrigues me from a psychological stand point...

Oh...I think there is something terribly wrong with the whole concept. I could never do it. Of course I'm incredibly selfish when it comes to my husband paying attention and being faithful to his one and only wife-ME.

What's up with these women? Abused definitely; maybe not physically, but emotionally my goodness it's as plain as the nose on your face..Don't even get me started on those kids. Can you even imagine what it must be like?

And I agree totally about him being creepy! And, I'd like to add... immature, arrogant, and manipulative, and controlling and on and on ....

I found it difficult to watch that first episode but I did watch most of the seasons episodes even though I got the feeling that HE was trying to convince the television audience that what they were living was perfectly normal at least that is the impression I got.

There is one wife and I can't think of her name, but she had a newborn.I thought she was the most normal of them all. She was fiesty and outspoken much more so than her sister wives.

Geez, what they put on TLC lately huh? I wonder why they decided on doing a reality show?

well if you look at it from a biblical point it was like that back in Bible times. I do not think I could ever do it either. I am way to territorial with my hubby and kids. I guess I don't share well!!! hehehehehehe Also I think most of the women have been brought up in this fashion so it is all they know... I would not want to be the husband... man trying to be there for 4 women and all the children. that would be a tough job if you ask me. I think my husband has his hands full with just me....hehehehehehe

I have been watching that show too. I don't much care for the guy, Cody, but there must be something that his wives love about him. I think it is interesting to see the way they are interact together. It isn't my choice of lifestyle, but it is a neat show to watch and see how they think and believe and how their family works together. :)

I don't care much for the man himself either. Not that he gives me the creeps in the least, but in some ways he does seem a bit immature, but then again most males do! haha

OTOH, like Beverly said there was a time in Bible history that this was normal, and even blessed by God. Things have changed though now, and the Bible said one wife, and one husband, after Jesus came. That being said, I have to say I think I am on the fence about it. No way would I do it today, cause I believe in honoring and obeying God, however, if we still lived in Bible times where it was normal and acceptable, and with the right husband with a good heart, I don't think it would really bother me. In fact, I've teased my husband and said I need a sister wife around here, and my husband teases back and says no, what you need is a maid! And what man in his right mind wants to have to please more then one woman, I'm tired enough keeping up with you! lol haha The only problem though that I can see that I would have with it, is when I'm pregnant I do like my husband to be around more for some reason, and miss him more, I think I would get jealous during those times. Other wise, some days I would be more then happy to share him with some one! lol haha Yeah, I am tired keeping up with HIM a lot of days! lol haha

That being said, my husband and I are very very careful to be God honoring and obeying, and we are careful in our association, etc, so as not to even be tempted to cheat on one another and we are very devoted to each other. I can not even see myself with another man ever. That would be weird to me for sure. Yet, I don't know why it wouldn't bother me to have a sister wife, again if we were in Bible times. Never now, as like I said I always strive to obey what I think God wants us to do, at least as much as I can by my own understanding of the Bible, and what he is trying to convey by means of his word.

I've been watching too and am also Hooked. I would rather see a family like this where everyone gets along and the kids are well cared for than one where one or both of the parents are out doing their own thing or absent entirely. I think it's better than the Duggar family where the kids are making appointments to spend time with the parents and the older girls are constantly being put in a mothering role. Yes he does seem immature but alot of husbands are and he does provide well for them. It wouldn't be for me but I am not here to judge anyone elses choice.

It may be a reality show, but it is still a show. And everyone is going to be careful to play nice in front of the camera. It is kind of like the Duggar family ~ all those kids getting along, doing their chores and schoolwork, never arguing .......hmmmm? Somehow, when the cameras aren't shooting, I have a feeling these people show a little more "reality".

Yes, it was permitted in the O.T., but it wasn't without problems. Leigh and Rachel were jealous of one another. David's wives also displayed some problems (along with the kids).....and Solomon, what was he thinking taking that many wives? How would you even remember their names?!

Reality TV? Real? I don't think so.

What is that household really like when the cameras are turned off? One man with a GIANT ego and sister wives desperately competing for his attention. And the big losers? The children.

Betty, the wives work, (At least I thought they did) and they get paid from the show, so, I don't think it's our tax dollars. Although, I'm not sure who pays for their healthcare-that's gotta be a HUGE bill!

I don't know how it is when the cameras are off, but the children seem to be well adjusted.

I do know that there was an investigation by the child protective services shortly after filming began. They said the household was safe and the children were well adjusted. They also stated in their report that the income came only from 'earned income' of three people. So I'm assuming that means dad and two of the wives.

I was a little concerned about the duggars and the sister wives being on taxpayer money, but it seems neither of them are. I also looked into the john and kate plus eight show, they weren't on any government assistance either.

These reality shows have to release certian information and they pay the families for doing this, so the families can't be on government assistance and recieve a paycheck from the filming companies.

I personally couldn't live that life as I don't like sharing my Hubby with anyone. I do have to say that there has been days I would have loved to have had another woman around to help out, or take over if I'm sick. I don't get along well with my mother or mother-in-law due to major childraising differences. At least these women all want their children raised the same basic way, so that makes it easier on them.

I knew a girl who's parents were living this lifestyle. She said that the wives tended to team up agianst the husband in an arguement. She said it was a cool way to grow up since it always gave her someone to be there to help her or talk to her. She doesn't want that life for herself, but she said it wasn't a bad way to live, just complicated sometimes.

debbie--It is on TLC on sunday night here. I guess you would have to check your cable network. I watch it online myself.

the man works and one of the women right not. the one wife got fired because of being on the show but she only worked part time. and since all the kids are his except for the three new ones his new wife brought into the marriage he has them all on his health insurance. He talked about that in one of the earlier episodes. Like I said not for me either but it is interesting to watch the dynamics of it all...

I watch it also. It isn't for me to judge. It is a shame that people are trying to get him thrown in jail. He spends more time with his kids than most Dad's I know.

It is funny that we live in a world that will except gay families, but rip this guy apart. I agree with neither way of life. But it is their way of life and I guess that it works for them.

God is the only judge. Let's let him do his job.

I've lived in a houseful of guys--no problem, but to share my space with another girl drives me crazy. I dont think plural marriages are right, but whats for me to say. Its certainly better than an open marriage (which I ended up in with out me knowledge).

Now why can't we do this with husbands? I need a few more. Mine is a truck driver and hardly ever home. I have so much that needs to be done around here and a few extra hubbies sounds like a darn good idea to me! Bring 'em on!

I don't condone their lifestyle, but it is part of their religious and moral choice. I can see how nice it would be to have other women around. I would NOT want to share my husband with another woman, so I guess that is a little double standard for me.
The wives all seem to have found their places in the home workings. Janelle works, and Mary did too, but she worked until they fired her for the show. It isn't a soap opera and it isn't drama filled, it is just a look into the lives of a family that is different than mine. I don't support them by watching it, but I do think that it is very interesting to see how they solve problems as a family and whatnot.

Same here Jess. One thing I can't stand on primetime any more, is fictional shows, where people are having sex with any one that walks by. At least with this family you don't see that. I don't watch it religiously though, but have seen a episode here and there. But, really we will probably be getting rid of tv in the next couple of months. lol

I think it's been pretty educational, up until now anytime I heard of plural marriage it was along the lines of Warren Jeffs and his followers who marry really young girls that are not given a choice. In this family the women were all legal age and aware of what they were getting into, they have the choice to leave if they want so let them be. Better this way then the guy that is married and has a girlfriend and kids on the side. At least Dad is in the home every night and the kids have an adult to go to any time they need one. Sure everyone puts their best face on for the camera but they have been pretty honest about the challenges.
