I can't seem to have a day without a bloody nose this last week. I just got one while typing this out.
I am pretty sure it's because of the allergy season here, considering high pollen. My 17 (dd) yo gets them too.
They are tiresome, but would love teensy prayers to guide us with taking care of this. My doctor just left the practice I go to, so I don't have a doctor again It just bothersome to get a bad bloody nose while your at a store checking out etc.

Our #2 son had this same problem. I would swab his nose at night with neosporin per the pediatrician. This was before I started making herbal salve... then switched to the more natural alternative... Anyway. Because of allergy season and temp changes he'd have nosebleeds ALL the time. Once we started swabbing with a Q-tip before bed. That took care of it.
The membranes get really dry and they are already thin. This keeps things moist!

I'm sorry Kristina. My brother used to get them ALL the time. The doctor recommended swabbing vaseline or neosporin in his nostrils to help. A humidifier may help too!
Angie,
What kind of herbal salve would you recommend?

We use a comfrey/herbal salve that I make each spring. You could use comfrey, calendula, all-heal, or any other herbs that has an antibacterial property.

I would for sure do the humidifier, and also saline.
When I was little, I heard to eat jell-o as well. I would be almost 100 percent positive this would be the NON vegan jell-o though cause I was told it was because of the bone marrow properties in it. I would imagine pork neck jelly may help as well. (eaten/digested not topical).

Ps as far as I know the pork neck jelly and bone marrow was to strengthen the cartilage in the nose and helping prevent the nose bleeds. But, I am not sure if it was just a hypothesis or if it actually did work.

I heard that drinking Nettle Tea helps nose bleeds.

I'm having a lot of them too this year. You and your dd are in my thoughts! Hoping we all get a reprieve soon!

I always thought I got them when I wasn't drinking enough. Especially when it starts to get hot and your body is getting used to the heat. Hard to give the body enough fluids to stay hydrated.
Don't know just my theory. Katie

You probably won't find comfrey tea. There is a school of thought that says taking comfrey internally is bad for you... If you want some dry leaves, herbal salve, or comfrey root to start your own, email me and I will send you some! I have PLENTY to spare as it escaped. =)

WHen I first got my cpap macchine I had nosebleeds. I used a xylitol saline nasal spray and an OTC product called Ayr. I can also use KY jelly. Both of those suggestions were from mt ENT. They work well for me. I also do saline rinses. |
