Has anyone decorated a newer 2000+ camper or trailer to try and make it look "glamper" worthy?

Hey Angela, I think we are the only two still up! I'm stuck on what to do about curtains for my camper. Can't decide if I want to do a theme in there or just make a better boring beige curtain. The whole inside is wood and beige. Yawn!

My trailer is a 2003 but for some reason they used blues and browns... I would love to go with a cowgirl theme and even bought the cowgirl sheets and bedspread with curtains...I still haven't decided to use it yet though...what I really want is a sweet little 50-60's trailer!

I really want a sweet 50/60's trailer too, but don't know what we may end up with.

I would NOT do tan/beige curtains. I would do the same as I did my house, what ever you make or do new for it start making it towards what you want. If you are on the fence about which theme to go with, just do gingham curtains or calico in colors you like, and then it will go with any "theme" you figure out later down the road, but I would never go with something less then what I like!

I know. I'm just torn so many directions! My camper is a fifties/sixties repro Scottie. I think I will go fifties kitchen and chenille on the bed. I just realized I can do "bedroom" curtains in the bed area and "Kitchen" curtains in the front of the camper. Duh! That makes it easy!
Thanks for giving me a place to figure this out!
Happy Glamping!

sounds awesome Connie, I want to see pics.

And yes, when I get my trailer for sure going to have distinctive kitchen/bedroom decor, cause well I am the same way can go 100 different directions, and I love so much retro stuff! lol haha I don't want to be pinned down to one!

In fact, in my own home, I was doing the same tried to go with one theme but I just had too many interest. So I decided instead of theme, to just go with the era. Cause in those times (from looking at my grandmothers time) there wasn't so many themes, just what they had was what they had. So now when I buy/make stuff for the house I don't have a theme so much as just focusing on it being era appropriate! As long as it fits in the era it kind of all goes.

I agree the era is what is important, more than the theme. I'm finally on a track I can run on! The camper is red and white. I've found a woman that makes retro awnings for the scotties and plan to order a red and white striped one soon. The outside has been a cinch to plan. The inside not so much. But now I have a plan! I've been collecting vintage state plates to use. They are cheap and so much fun to look for. Finally decided to go with fiesta bowls. The bright colors match the plates and are era correct. Now to find some glasses. I love my coffee in mugs so no tea cups for me! I'll post some pics when I get it together.

I love fiesta wear. I think I would go with the blue/green canning jars for glasses, and for coffee mugs not sure! Maybe try to find some big specklewear mugs, but most of them aren't the size I like! I like super big!

Great idea! I already have plenty of those ball jars. I use the ones with a bale on them to hang candles in for mood lighting. :) I'm with you on the mugs. Maybe I can find some old diner mugs. Heavy chunky ones. I would not care if they were new as long as they looked right. I also have retro T towels that are state maps kinda touristy. I use them for place mats and to do the dishes. I thought of making curtains out of them but cost is an issue and I cant find old ones in good enough shape. I've been looking for old table cloths to make curtains out of but haven't found anything that makes my heart sing yet.

I would prefer used myself! lol haha One time I went to Cracker Barrel though and they had the perfect mug, I thought well I am coming back by I will get it when I come back by, when I went back by it was too late and they were closed, the next time I went they were gone! They were just the right size and weight, were vintage looking and had one word on each mug, the fruitages of the spirit! Oh well, I'm still on the look.

As for curtains, I got a book on what to do with flea market finds at Dollar Tree! And they made curtains with old hankies, I loved it! They put them in a diamond pattern only one row, so you had points every so often hanging, I loved it! I have wanted to do that ever since! It's only like a valance more then curtains, but I still loved it!

Other then that right now there is a few vintage inspired fabrics out that I would love to use, one is of trailers and the other of older kitchen appliances! Both by the same company.

A hankie curtain would be a perfect fit for a camper window! May I borrow that idea? That is if i ever get around to it? LOL I did that with napkins to make a valence in my grand daughters nursery. Really cute with girlie pink flowers embroidered in one corner with tatting on the edges. They are long gone too. Sigh...
I just let an old wood shelf get away that I wanted for my farmers market stand. Should have bought it when I saw it. Oh well it wasn't meant to be.

Of course you can borrow the idea, it wasn't mine! lol haha I bought it for a dollar at dollar tree. I was also thinking it would be the perfect size for a trailer. If you are lucky you could find some kitchy ones that have a different state on each one, with the state flower and the like, they are really bright colors. I have had a few! They are harder to find now a days but you never know!

I wouldn't pay those prices mind you! I actually used to have some grrrr! But, you may hit a jack pot at a flea market or tag sale, or what not and find some for pretty cheap.

Too cute! And expensive! Maybe in my free time could embroider some of my own. Now that is funny! I'll keep looking for them. It will take a while to find them so I'll have to do something else first.

I was thinking the same thing. I think I may invest one or two expensive ones, and make them the center point of the curtain and then use cheaper ones for the rest of them. IE Just buy states that have a special meaning to me. And then fill in the gaps with cheap ones.

Chickie, sorry they probably no longer have it. I bought it 5 or 6 years ago! It was a awesome book, I wish I would of bought more of them, cause it really had some of the best fleamarket/garage sale item craft ideas I ever seen! It was well worth my dollar! When I find it when I am unpacking, I will try to scan in the pic of what I am talking about.

On the hankies, I think we could probably find them cheaper at estate sales and the like, if we keep our eyes peeled!

yup love goodwill too, but since they went to having the auction site for their good stuff, I never see the good stuff in the stores much any more. Anything that could make a lot of money I see goes directly to ebay now.

Angela- i love the glasses too. Now that I have decided to use them in the camper I won't need more than four. It's usually just the two of us. I'd love to see that book too. Don't you just love a good idea book!

LOVE good idea books, had I known it was as good as it was, I would of bought more and gave them as gifts! I bought 2 that day (cause I already had a friend in mind for the other one) and gave one to a friend, and kept one. After I read it I wished I had bought more. Almost every idea it had was good! And ones I hadn't heard before!

Yeah they started that a few years ago Angela that's when I seen a major change in what they had in their actual stores Angela, well actually I noticed it about a year before, then some one brought it to my attention that they were now auctioning off their good stuff, and I was like, wow that's what happened! I couldn't figure out what had happened, I had thought maybe people just weren't donating as much or as good of stuff any more of something. In my opinion it was a bad move for us the customers, and I wasn't too happy with it. I haven't been to any DAV's lately though, but am going to start going soon. (I couldn't find them in NYC but we have them here in Kansas). I'm hoping they actually sell their stuff in their stores still instead of auctions.
